Talking Is it time for Mods?

    Is it time for Mods?

The game seems to be in its final version, bugs or no bugs.

CA is hard at work on NTW, which may make some changes to the engine of ETW but that is months away.

So is it time to look for a mod?

Some have been playing them for months already.

    What can you recommend?

    Which have you played?

What do you like/dislike about them?

These are the major mods that change game play.

Of course there are hundreds of minimods and faction unlockers. Some add units or change skins.

If you want to talk about them then please provide a link.

Do any of them use the engine for anything other than musket warfare?
Fighting isn't about winning, it's about depriving your enemy of all options except to lose.

There may be some conversion mods in development or even released but you will have to have a look and see.

As I've mentioned quite a bit, I've played Imperial Splendour and love it. So much so that I just can't do Vanilla anymore.

The changes it makes are far too numerous to list, but basically it revamps muskets as a whole, making range actually affect accuracy, making virtually every unit unique, and vastly improves all aspects of artillery, making them, you know, USEFUL. IT also makes some major changes to naval warfare, giving ships really tough hulls, slowing them down and so on. They're planning to fix CA's naval 'balancing' next patch too.

THey're gradually going through and revamping all the factions as well. Russia, for instance, now has to research the Streltsy Reforms in order to gain access to line infantry (not quite on the historical timeline, but its fun), and many other factions have some unique technology.

The only downside is that they can't change the AI :(

    Thanks! They are now.

    @ Sheogorath

    Thanks for the info!

The problem with the AI is there is no script editor.

Just like we have no map editor, so map changes and new regions are currently a no go as well.

Is there any mods similar to Lusted's Lands to Conquer mod for M2:TW. Basically a bunch of minor tweaks (as well as animation fixes) here and there to MASSIVELY (IMHO) improve gameplay making the WAAAAY more fun than stock. Hell i still fire up LTC every once in a while to get my medieval fighting fix in.
