    Koc;

I noticed on the Kenchikuka site that you listed this as your choice for a well balanced 5000k Army.

Can you elaborate on what you said there about the groupings + how might you seek to use them in attack and defence? Also, what do you do with the musketeers if you are caught in the rain?

well i have a good army for 6k but u have 2 be sort of good with cav as well there arent much in this army but if u use them right u will have a great 6k army.
    (unit)(honour)
    1monk h3 (taisho)
    4guns h2
    2c arch h1
    3y cav two h1 one h2
    2yari s h4
    4monks h2

this is best used when attacking and its great for attacking on green i have played lots there with this set up and only lost twice.

    for 5000 I usually take

    2 h4 YS
    2 h3 YS
    2 h2 yc
    4 h2 wm
    4 h2 SA

I think anyway, does that add up?

I dont know why I'm doing this... but here goes...

If it rains, I take 16 Arquebusiers,
If it shines, I take 16 Cav Archers,
If attacking on the plain, I put them into squares,
If attacking on the climb, I put them into wedgies.

Um... Nah! I always put them into wedgies!

But, should I attack a bridge, that is when I will stoop low and 16 heavy cav are the order of the day...

    kurando,

u can use guns as a moral support if its rain. My guns mostly h2 in 5k.

I group my mainunits(monks and nd´s) in 3 parts. left center right

so i can move this parts real fast.
Most players use only ctrl and select 1 type
    of units.
i mix, coz nds kill faster at beginning and monks hold longer.
I offer my sams most of time, for enemy arrows or defend my guns.(put them behind)
with 3 groups u can better overwight 1 site.

My typical 5k army will consist of 25% guns, 25% YS, 25% WM and the balance mixed between NoDachi, SA, and Cav depending on who I am fighting.

I'll use on average 8 different control groups and sometimes 9. I don't actually use the "G" key to groups these as it allows me more flexibility in movement. By using only the Control groups I can still select an individual unit and move it to a specific point without having a whole group move and possibly get tangled up.

I've also started making substantially more use of unit orders such as hold position and engage at will. I am finding that small changes of that type can be more effective than changing group formations (loose, close, wedge).

Unlike those who use a lot of Cav for speed of movement and quick hitting power, I tend to be much more deliberate when I attack, chewing up my enemy with guns and then finishing them off with HTH. As I attack 99% of the time, I have found that many of my opponents tend to charge me rather than allow their troops to be shot to pieces allowing me to counter-punch more effectively. Can't say that it works all the time, but I'll take winning about 4 out of every 5 in 1x1 and 2x2.

Strength and Honor to Kocmoc for his efforts.
