    Default Arabic factions

I have to ask a question that really bugged me. Since I now study Arabic I am very interested in Arabic civilization as well. In EB there is the faction of Sab`yn but will EB 2 have other factions in the Arabic Peninsula? (I certainly hope it will pls pls pls )

We dunno, no Arabian faction has been previewed yet, not even the Sab'yn.

IIRC Moros stated that there will be no southern arabian factions (Hadramaut, Qataban etc) but that still leaves the possiblity of northern ones like Palmyra and the Nabataean kingdom.

Of course with the exception being Saba'.

What other options are there well the Nabataeans are an option, but they're quite in the dark when it comes to their early history. We know they were there already by the 3century BC and that they were able to withstand the makedonians in 312 BC. Sources of their early military are scarce (I looked into them) and are mostly limited to petroglyohs. Only their late army has some good sources (reliefs from petra). But that is rather late in game. Their early socio-political structure is pretty in the dark as well. However they will appear as regionals though. Probably even a camelunit which would be cool and historical. Other northern factions at our start date would be the Qedar, though they wouldn't last long after our timeframe. Possibly they didn't even make it to our start date. Of course you have some obscure nomad tribes (for example the debae), we know barely anything about and weren't much important either. The south well I already went over that last time. Then we have the east. The lands of Makah, which were once persian and later would be controlled by the Parthians/sassanids, were quite important when it came to trade. And while we do have some limited historical information on them and some archeological finds, we just know wat too little of them to make them a faction. If they even were united in some way? The more northern parts of the East coast was largely an empty area. The grand exception though would have been Gerrha or han-hagar. But as we don't even really know where it exactly was, it's obvious we can't justify it.
On Palmyra I never did that much reading, I did look at some archeological evidence looking for unit concepts. However they struck me to only be viable as a faction in a first centuries AD mod. Ofcourse if someone has an idea for an Arabian faction or disagrees with some of the above, who knows what happens if you make a solid case?

Edit: Also where do study Arabian, if I may ask?

of course there will be more: as long as I, an Arab-American, shall remain here, there will be more homies

but seriously, I think Moros nailed it perfectly: documentation is poor when it comes to this timeframe

Well good luck with your studies! :)

But don't worry with about 30 Arabian units, you will have your fun playing as them.

I'm putting my money on Palmyra and Nabateia. The first because it will hamper the from becoming yellow fever and the latter because we need more arabic factions!

Shouldn't you know already? you have a team member sig.

It seemed fairly clear (not 100%) from Moros's post that neither would be in.

Yeah but he's an EBII member so he could be tricking us... Probaly not because he's "EB's spreader of truth" ;D

Well its good that the Saba are atleast in. In EBI they are a pretty unique, distinct and fun faction. I can't wait to see how they will look like in EBII.

Though I hope that there will atleast be more Middle Eastern or Asian factions, or just more barbarians for the Seleukids to squash.

Honestly I never understand why people don't trust Moros, when he is telling fibs it's always pretty obvious, most the time he's actually quite truthful.

Are you a member of the EB team though? I ask because you don't seem to know what the other faction are which seems a bit strange if you were making the mod, if you aren't you shouldn't have that sig as it's reserved for the people making EB.

Why? Only EB team members can quote Gamegeek?

I dunno, I think we might be seeing different sigs or something.

Well, in IE, the only thing remotely Sweboz-related in this thread is Bobbin's signature. So, I don't know. There isn't like, a small box with an X inside it, there' just nothing there. No pictures.

This is how I see his signature:

The sig is definately there. so, 2 people can see it. Do you bow to peer pressure or continue to deny seeing it. Hmm, the choices. I gotta subscribe to this one.

EDIT: @Azathoth, the sig I can see i directly between below the gamegeek quote and directly above the 'Campaigns completed' thing. In that little white space....except in mine its a big white space, and it has a sweboz eb member sig of a guy with a sword and shield and an axe stuck in the front of his shield.

Check your user CP. Each person should also have 2 (two!!!) user pictures on the left of their profile. But you can disable the big one if you are on dial-up internet or want to save bandwidth. Check to see that you have it enabled, or somehting. maybe its stoping pics from appearing in sigs for you.

Actually, now that is solved it comes back to the main question. Is that guy using the sig a team member or is he just claiming to be one? If he is one, why doesn't he know whats going on?

I honestly believe Moros should change his forum name to "Prince of Lies" because of his habit of seemingly innocently spreading misinformation and half-truths within the more speculative threads.

I don't think he's purposefully claiming to be a team member, he most likely doesn't know its just reserved for the EB team.

He is not an EBmember. It's quite easy to check wether someone is as well. On his profile page there's a box with groupmemberships. Those determine if you have acces to hidden forums. The most prominent being the Gameroom and the backroom. Every EB member has acces to our hidden forums and thus is a member of the group EB. (compare his box to mine for example).
