Okay, so as the Hojo, I decided to experiment with some Warrior Monks, using them as my elite stormtroopers.
I had a battle where I had to make a river crossing against a fairly large number of the enemy (although I still had a numerical advantage, but not by a lot).
Because arrow fire can really put a crimp on one's efforts to cross a river, I decied to wait until heavy rain was prevailing, thinking that would decrease the enemy's ability to rain death upon my troops.
So I had a group of Yari spearman cross first, followed by my diamyo (to give the best possible morale advantage), followed by three units of my Monks. I didn't want to expose the Monks to a lot of arrows, which was why I had them cross after my diamyo.
Well, in short order, my army was decimated and the Monks were routed.
Was my approach wrong? Did I misuse the Monks?
