    Does anyone know how to use the Romeshell thingy with Windows 7 yet, or have any suggestions? Having no fow would be nice.

    You mean you can't access the console? I would just try it with the Vista fix, see:

If you experience such problem with Rome console, you should go to device manager and disable the infrared receiver. It worked for me and it had cost me a lot of time to figure out where the problem is.

    I'm afraid that there is no such line, as your computer system is of other composition than mine.

    Open all possible points inside your device-manager and search for anything related to infrared.

    I'm sorry for that:
    Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    You know which cursor is for the console?
    Left of the "1" and above the "Tabulator"

    Don't hate me for this tip, as I do not know anything about your RTW-knowledge

    You can use the search function (top right corner) to find the Device Manager; in case that is what you were unable to find.

    First of all, thank you all for camming to my aid. In fact I use Windows Vista and can not access the rome shell (by the way I was not offended by your tip! I thank you for it, even though I already knew about it, you were here to help me). I understood that the problem was related to the infrared something in the windows's control pannel device manager. But when I get to the device manager I see a tree with all hardware but no infrared devices or infrared controler devices, I have already searched each one of them ... I will keep searching anyway.

    Thanks

    The closest thing I was able to find was called Consumer IR Devices under the device manager. I don't know if that's the right thing or not, but I personally couldn't disable it. Maybe you could try looking for that depending on the type of computer you have.

    @leao magno

    Do you have a sort of special keyboard (like Logitech gaming series or Microsoft sidewinder)? If the drivers for those are not installed properly it could harm the functions of some buttons.

    @biowulf

    That should be it. IR is definitely infrared.
    What do you mean by you can't de-install it? You are logged in as administrator, right? (Because if you weren't, you could have not started the device manager)
    Select the "Consumer IR Devices", right click on the item, and select "deinstall"

    BTW: Before handling around with the device manager, I suggest to create a restore point (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/w...-restore-point)

    That is the problem, I do not have any infra-red equipment (keyboard, mouse or anything else). That may be why I can not find the control you mentionned, maybe the problem with my Romamshell is derived from other thing.

    I mean that I click on it, find it's properties and whatnot, but the uninstall and disable buttons are greyed out and unclickable. I've pretty much decided to let it be and just use spies from now on.
