    Default Roman Brutality [Concluded]

Host's comment: I'm thinking of getting back into hosting games, and I have an idea for a small and/or a large game set in an instance of the Rome: Total War universe. Basically, this little game will serve as warmup for me as a host, and a short introduction to the current situation in the Roman Empire, which is going to be the centre that the later game revolves around.

Gnaeus Julius sighed with relief as he got within eyesight of his home, a small but sturdy mansion with associated fields and woods where his family had the economic foundation that allowed them to contend in politics. It was almost a day's journey on horseback from the gates of Rome itself, and it was the only place where Gnaeus could truly relax, away from the reckless politicians and ambitious senators who shyed no means to win influence and personal glory. He snorted in defiance, realizing that he was one of the few men who were left of an older and more honourable breed, true to the original spirit and ideal of the most magnificent city in the world, Rome.

He knew that many of these political enemies were waiting for an opportunity to have him removed, and his reluctance to take the war to the Gaul tribes that bordered the northern areas that were under the jurisdiction of himself and family, and was always relieved when he came home to find his mansion untouched. He dismounted some fifty yards from the gate in the outer wall surrounding his home and smiled as he could discern the gates opening to recieve him in the last rays of the sun.

Was this his oldest son coming to greet him?

... As the gate opened, Gnaeus came to a halt. The figure who had opened the gate was aiming a bow straight at him. His throat was suddenly dry. "Why? Who?", he managed to rasp. His body was thrown backwards as the arrow entered his skull through his right eye. He managed to get up on his knees and hands and with his last, fading strength, he mumbled; "My sons... My wife..."
The figure with the bow shone a diabolic grin at him. "They will be taken care of."
Gnaeus tried to scream in frustration, but only a faint exhale left him as he collapsed in the moist grass and a pool of his own blood. His horse panicked and galloped from the scene, and the assailant returned towards the mansion.

Screams emanated from the family bedchamber and echoed through the night. Those who were awakened by the noise crept together in their rooms and found something to defend themselves, but no more people were attacked during the night. After what felt like years of painful vigilance in the dark, the inhabitants gathered in front of the house in the morning. They were seven people left, and among them, murders were loose. Isolated and far from the safety of the city, they would have to fight for their lives against those who sought to steal them away from them.

They went about burying Gnaeus, his wife, and his youngest son with a crestfallen attitude, sending each other mistrusting glares...

    Skooma Addict

    Game info:
In the day phase, vote against who you think is the murderer. Voting format is vote:Diamondeye for votes and unvote:Diamondeye for unvotes. Please note that you must unvote before you can vote against someone else. The person with the most votes at the end of the day will be lynched. In the night phase, the murderer will attack someone else and attempt to kill them. If anyone else has nighttime abilities, this is the phase to use them in.
Both day and night phases will be relatively short, 24 hours each, to keep the game within the 120-hour limit for mini mafia games - the only exception to this is the first phase, which will last 36 hours to get the game on tracks and establish the timeframe of the game. This means that phases change at 10 PM, my timezone (CET - Summertime savings?).
If you miss two votes in a row, or three votes during the course of the game, you will be removed from the game. Abstaining from night actions has no other reprecautions than the waste of a chance to use them, but for the sake of the game balance (and your team's chances), please send in orders every night.

Character PMs - EVERYONE HAS ONE:

Please note that all seven character PMs contain this info - even the mafia have been given these as cover, and there is no way to discern the cover roles from the 'real' roles whatsoever. Not any reliable ones, anyway.
You are welcome to reveal your PM to another player in private, or in public, if you wish to, or simply hint at its contents (such as your title and name).
    The sending title of all PMs are of the same format;
    Mini Mafia Role: Title, Name
The mafia's true titles/names are not in the sending title.

If you have any questions or concerns about the game that have not been touched upon, feel free to bring it up in the thread or in a private message to me!

    The game has begun!
    It is now Day 1!
Night falls in roughly 36 hours!

Not part of this game, but I have a hint for you all! Gnaeus was clearly a cyborg sent back into the past! The dude had an arrow IN HIS BRAIN and still managed to get up. The guy you're looking for is a heroic assassin of evil cyborg Roman politicians, not a cold blooded murderer!

A couple of comments and a current tally:

I made a minor mistake when counting hours ahead from the opening post; Where it says 36 hours, it really needs to say 34 hours; this means that there is roughly 3 hours left of the current phase. Sorry for any convenience.

And some information for future posts - especially for the newer players - editing a post with a vote in is no good. If you make a mistake you think need fixing in a post with a vote, please post another reply with the vote in, that you bring the proper to attention to a change of votes.

    The current tally is:
    God Emperor: Skooma Addict
    AskThePizzaGuy: Skooma Addict
Tiberius of the Drake: God Emperor
    Autolycus: Cute Wolf
    Joooray: God Emperor
    Skooma Addict: AskThePizzaGuy

    Skooma Addict: 3
    God Emperor: 2

    Day 1 Ends:
After the initial shock had dispersed among the seven people that were left, they were quick to get down to the business of trying to track down the killers. Most of them were very well aware that their lives were at stake if they could not catch the killers in time. they argued back and forth, and several people were quick to accuse and be accused. The atmosphere grew more intense as the sun began to set, and it seemed that a conclusion to the debate of the day had been reached.

A plurality of them had found reason to believe that Skoooma Addict had played a part in the murder of Gnaeus and his family - after all, wasn't their security his job? He was cornered in the fading light of day, clenching his gladius desperately. "What's this, Cassius," one of the accusers remarked, "so desperate to protect your own life, yet unwilling to protect your master? I think you're hiding something!" Cassius sighed as he saw the blades in the hands of the men approaching, and threw his blade away, knowing that even a man of his caliber could not fight his way out of this. He kneeled. "Give me a soldiers death," he mumbled. "Quick and clean. Like my master and friend would have preferred himself. I hope you find the bastard who is guilty."

The men hesitated for a second before regaining their decisiveness and one of them stepped forward and quickly slit the throat of the kneeling, broken man.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Skooma Addict, the personal guard Cassius, was loyal!
