    Question Coward enemy generals

I'm playing Egypt in Kingdoms and I have the Turks down to their last settlement in the east (Mosul). The garrison consists of only an 8 star general (all by himself).

When I assault the city though, all he does is stay in the square so I have to kill him, whereas I am trying to release him so he can help the western Turks keep Antioch from expanding too far north

Is there a way to capture him AND the city without killing him?

lift your siege... use add_money to get some unholy ammount of florins, and then go tell the turks that you want to buy that city with that unholy money.... the general will peacefully step out of the city, leaving you to get control of it.... (BTW This is Cheating )

If you want him to live that badly then don't capture the city. If you assult then he won't surrender, therefore death is assured.

The only possible way is to bribe the city (the general will be included in the deal...) but that would certainly involve some amount of cheating as the cost of the bribe would certainly be rather stiff...

However that may depend on that general loyalty level... which can also be modded by adding a few disloyal traits, lowering the cost to bribe him... But don't forget to remove those traits, otherwise he may soon rebel on your hands...

Uhm, taking an 8 star general alive is quite hard, even beside the square situation. He will probably fight to the death even in open field.
I still can suggest a tactic actually.

Put lots of cavalry in one side of th square, and few archers to the other side.

When the archers send the wave of arrows, the general will move to kill him and leave th square. When he does, send your hundreds of cavalry to attack behind him. This way, your cavalry will be at the square, and when the general escapes, you will be able to capture him instantly.

You can also put as many infantry as you can with the archers, because with bigger numbers your chance is bigger to make him rout.
