Cant instal MTW gold

Hi,

For a year ago i installed MTW with 1.1 patch and VI with 2.01 patch and uninstalled it again becose the Ge force problems.
I bought a new MTW VI Gold edition DVD and becose I am getting a new grafic card, i wanted to instal the MTW GoldEdition but i cant, reason it said there whas still somme thing from MTW VI on my PC ? I uninstalled the game a year ago and i cant find nothing on my PC
Is this a known problem? is there any one who can tell me what to do?

Do not install from the autorun pop up window. Instead explore the contents of the installation disc and run the "setup.exe" file. Try this first and if it yields no results, you will have to remove some registry entries.

Where can i find these registry entries from MTW?

The problem is, as far as I know, that when you install VI, it installs over the top of MTW and replaces it's entry in add/remove programs. Thus when you uninstall VI one would assume that all registry entries would be cleared. This is not the case. The registry entries for VI are cleared but some of the original MTW entries are left behind.

I will do an uninstall now and find out exactly which entries are left over and report back. It may be possible to make a "cleaner" for this as this problem crops up now and again.

Update:

Ok I think I have the culprit.

1) Download the attached hive file, rename it to "VI-Uninistall1.reg" (take the ".txt" bit off the end) and run it. Do a registry backup first.

2) Also make sure you've removed the old "Medieval - Total War" directory. This is usually in "Program Files", though it depends on where you originally installed the game. Then try to reinstall again.

I installed the first edition of my MTW and patched it up to 1.1 after that I installed VI and patched this one up 2.01, and it works, so now i just have to waith till saterday then ill get my ATI 4890 card.

If I for somme reason uninstall MTW VI and patches will it uninstal all files?

Gold Edition is identical to MTW + VI. So in effect you've wasted your money buying the same game twice, sorry.

If you uninstall, it leaves remnants as I've described above.

There is also no need to install patch v1.1 if you are going to install VI anyway.

No mate i did nt wasted my money buying the same game twice i just love this game and it only cost 5 euro`s
I did nt know about the 1.1 patch

Well i hope it works with my new ATI 4890 card, if so than i am a happy man
