Hi,

Thanks
You get to see more of the map without exploring it - very handy, and probably the main reason I wish I wasn't "Very Untrustworthy".
Exactly what Sevis said... You get to see the localization of cities and their ownership at the time of the map exchange... You also get to see the localization of resources on the map as known by the other faction, whether in their own territory or discovered by their exploration...

Getting map info would mean you get to see the location of their settlements without exploring them first.
Diplomatically making any successful deal would improve your relationship with that faction, albeit only ever slightly.
Also, depending on the size of your territory, you can make a pretty decent amount of money off of selling your map info to other factions.
Honestly, not much unless you want to sell it for cash. I use toggle_fow if I want to see what everyone is doing.
Selling map information to a near neighbor can be dangerous; I've found that they tend to target you once they know your weak spots.
I've not found it dangerous myself, but I do notice an influx of agents from other factions.
I typically sell map info as one step in a series of diplomatic maneuvers.
Step 1. Trade Rights
Step 2. Give 100 florins tribute over 10 years
Step 3. Offer Map Info for 1000 florins.
Step 4. Ask for Alliance.
The idea to tribute florins and then follow up with selling map info is that although you're basically breaking even, you have the 1000 florins up front, like an interest free loan.
If a faction rejects the map info, I try to lower the price if possible, and finally trade map info. Sometimes they just don't have the money. If I can't get anything after offering tribute, I just chalk it up to the price of boosting relations.
