Default A music sub-forum in the Frontroom

Proposition: The creation of a dedicated music sub-forum in the Frontroom to discuss, well, music.
    Yay or Nay?

With orgahs being so diverse (living in many locations across the world and of so many different cultures), music geeks enthusiasts could discuss all sorts of music from all sorts of different cultures. Discussion of anything music related could be posted from all the music eras (the classical, to the classics, to the contemporary), to theory, to bands and artists and composers, to wacky folk instruments, and everything in between.
Oh and of course discussion on all the different genres...
    Krautrock, anyone?

    Again,
Yay or Nay? And opinions? Please.

If science gets their sub forum, why not music?

Although I suggest making an art sub forum where members can discuss various art work, drama, literature and music.

And the science subforum is so active.

    Nay.
But you can't compare art to science... it's inconceivable. =P

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

I've only ever used it once.
But you still cannot compare the two.

    Hahaha!
Believe it or not, it was "The Princess Bride" where I first stumbled upon the word, and I've been using it ever since. It's probably the only vaguely memorable aspect of the entire movie - which is why I didn't get your joke. Heck, I didn't even know the name of the movie until I clicked that link. Thanks for the hilarious memories, pever.

Huhmm, but please, let's get back on topic...

I will abstain from voting because it doesn't really matter anyways.

If you look in the Frontroom there are a few random band threads occasionally, but for the most part I don't think adding a music sub-forum is a good idea. It will probably go the way of the Science forum, active at first and then slowly die down to a few posts a month. I'm not totally against the idea, but I don't see it staying an active part of the org.

Actually, I'm inclined to close the Science sub-forum and merge it with the main Frontroom. Sub-sub-forums are a real bother for mods, and if they aren't seeing a lot of traffic ...

Sub forums that get little activity are basically a death trap for threads anyway. You probably get less music related posts than you would in the frontroom which has more viewers.

This seems to come up every six months or so. Nay, not enough activity to justify it.

I say nay, since there isn't enough dedicated interest (by the looks) to support a sub-forum for music alone. The science section is a very good example of that, as it hardly gets much traffic.

If sub forums are never noticed then maybe a grown up forum to itself, because I have plenty of music interest, there's enough threads relating to music already, that could be moved to a music sub forum. So yay that a music forum should be made, but I think I've been out voted lol.

I am still wondering why Science had its own sub-forum anyway.

I'm also against too many sub-forums. I like all my off-topic-ness contained in a small enough area that I can keep up with it. The little sub-forums don't see much activity, so I don't check on them, further depressing activity. I'd say to merge science back with the frontroom as well, as science threads can be cool, but now seem to get shuffled off to a quiet and private death.

Which forum would be suitable for philosophical threads; monastery, frontroom, or the backroom?

Monastery is supposed for historical threads. While frontroom seems casual, the backroom looks too serious.

Nay. People are fanatical about music and can rarely stand on common ground over the issue. Hooahguy, for example, brutally flames me whenever I share a hip hop video with him.
