CD/DVD drives are ridiculously cheap. You can get good DVD drives for under $20 USD on tons of websites. Save youself some frustration and just get a new drive.

“The majestic equality of the laws prohibits the rich and the poor alike from sleeping under bridges, begging in the streets and stealing bread.” - Anatole France
"The law is like a spider’s web. The small are caught, and the great tear it up.” - Anacharsis
Really? I was told there like £70 ($120) !!!
If I can get it for that price I happily would, but the other issue is I wouldn't have a clue on how to put it into my modem or take the existing one out, I'm not tech savvy. I know you can get separate disk drives that you don't need in your modem, but I got the impression they were even more expensive. Plus getting a professional to fix it in would probably got a lot in itself seeing as I don't know what the heck I'm doing lol.
TY for responses guys, btwby disk drive I mean DVD too, it's like a 2 in 1 and is the only disk slot I have on my computer box thingy (used to call it a modem but realized that was the wrong word)...![]()

Yes, it is the wrong word.
You have one slot in your case, this is fine, you can get a DVD/CD Combo drive for that price.

15 pounds?
I'm more than happy to walk you through it when you get it, as others are I'm sure. Learning to build a computer yourself is a lot of fun. I did my first one in march, since then I've done 3 for work and one for myself. All work fine.![]()
hmmmm....we'll see, at that price I'd seriously considering buying it....but I am unbelievably dumb when I want to be & my computer will probs be some kind of idiots workmanship that was never meant to workbut theres always a refund at worst case scenario.
Thanks for the info![]()
