Thread: Getting rid of the machine gunning towers

Default Getting rid of the machine gunning towers

As many of you know when making a siege on a town with wooden walls everything is good but when it has stone walls with towers that fire 60 arrows per min (or so) and kill way more of my men than the A.I. I find it kind of wrong. So then how can I turn off the towers and the boiling oil?

Huh? You want to make it even easier to kill the AI?

I find it pretty realistic. It should take many men to breach "stone" walls. Imo, it should take even more than the game represents...

The only downside I see is when the AI just sits next to a tower. But thats more of a coding thing.. As far as turning off towers, sorry, I have no idea.
Imo, the following "mod" is almost perfect:

For installation process, I followed the following: RTW Gold > Alexander > EB 1.1 > 1.2 > Official Fixes > 1.2 Mini Mod Pack 3.1 > LZ3's Custom EB Fix Adaptation > Phalanx Mod > RS Textures > Naval Strat Map Add On > Lysander's Sihunet Formations Adaptations > EOM 4 Carthaginian Governors Edition > Atraphoenix' RS Legions Adaptation For ALEXANDER EB > Getting Rid Of The Giant Trees Mod > (I've also modded the Roman reforms to happen sooner, deleted 7 files/folders to get rid of window lights and torches for night battles, and added 3 SKYMOD_BI .txt files for night lighting.) - The only thing missing is a 12 turns per year mod, maybe 6 tpy instead.

Well the thing with stone towers is that they work both ways as the player can put some units at the wall, gate and watch them die.
I do understand that I need a lot of men to do a siege (and I like it) but having towers with a high rate of fire making it look like I am besieging a WW1 castle where a unit of 150 men reaches the wall with 80 men. Ill just rather lose these men to the A.I solders.

Really, because I have played chivalry total war mod and it did not have boiling oil or arrow shooting towers.

I don't think you can disable Burning Oil (maybe you can?).

The arrows can be disabled. To do this, go into the folder EB/Data and then open your export_descr_units.text and go up edit and do a replace, and replace all "arrow" entries with "arrow2".

Then go into your descr_projectile_new.txt and make a copy of the "projectile arrow" and rename it "projectile arrow2." Then going back to the original "projectile arrow" entry and set the max and minimum angle to 100.

    The lines should like this:
    min_angle 100
    max_angle 100

Then save both text files and close them and towers will not longer fire arrows.
