There may be obstacles or barricades of some kind preventing forward progress for everyone in the game. If those obstacles or barricades are destroyed or removed or unlocked in any fashion, it will be public knowledge. These impassable points, once removed, will be unlocked for everyone in the game.

Thus, it is not necessary for each individual person to solve all puzzles or unlock all doors.
