Stirling Bridge was the first major Scottish victory in the Wars of Independence, placing the country back under Scottish control and raising William Wallace to a position of political dominance. Details of how the historic battle was fought can be found in the battle description.
I grew up in housing built on the site of the actual battlefield, and so it was quite natural for me to attempt this battle as my first Historic Battle.

As one would expect with a Total War game, the armies have been scaled-down in order to make the battle playable. I don't have any mods installed, so this battle can be played on any version of Medieval II Total War.
Here is an overview shot of the main battlefield...
You can choose to play either the Scots or the English, and as far as I can see, it is essentially balanced to recreate the battle as best as can be achieved considering the constraints of the game itself... the AI does not necessarily act the same as the historic armies did, and we cannot make the bridge as narrow as the real one or to make it collapse - certain units have therefore been placed in certain areas of the map in order to enable a gameplay that can best simulate the timing of crisis points etc.
Here's my result when I test-played as the Scots...
And to demonstrate that it can be won by either army, here's my result when I test-played as the English...
I do hope you enjoy what I believe is most likely the definitive version of the Battle of Stirling Bridge as is possible in Medieval II Total War.
