    Exclamation ☼ ☼ ☼ Late Night Studying? ☼ ☼ ☼

I'm gettin' sick of all these all-nighters to write essays, assignments, and study for exams. At the moment, I'm takin a quick break from studying for my midterm tommorrow. After this, I have my finals throughout the rest of the month, and it's a situation I don't exactly look forward to.

At least I'll get my Christmas break soon. This was a dream semester full of classes I enjoyed, in spite of the essays and assignments. That's probably why I managed to get through the whole mess with some stable level of sanity.

How do you guys deal with this? Is swimmin in pools of coffee your solution? Or perhaps you have a really good study schedule that doesn't demand you stay up during the God-forsaken hours of the night?

I never drink coffee. Probably should.

    Tastes horrible though.

Take a break when you have to, otherwise it's just a waste of perfectly fine energy. I like studying at night, everything is quiet, no doorbells no incomming calls, perfect.

Yeah, I've come to appreciate this tranquility whilst studying, but...

...This would appear to be true, too. I've gotta reform my study schedule. Maybe next year.

Finals week is coming up, I'm studying to the point of exhaustion. I have to take a break every half hour or so just to keep the wheel grinding. At least I have the next few days off from work.

Try not to let stuff pile on toward the end. If you get instructors who love to plan long-term assignments you can save yourself a lot of hassle if you make up an outline and get your research done ASAP. Writing a last minute paper is criminally easy if you've done all the leg work already.

As for Finals: I've found no easy way to tackle that particular beast. No matter what it always tends to get a little crazy, but you can save yourself the scramble by having well taken notes. Or simply make tabs for all the "trouble spots" and stick them through-out your textbook. It's the little things, really.

This. Couple hours then take a break for some TV, some net browsing, or simply a coffee/snack break. Just try not to get food stains on your papers.

Same. By the night before, you probably either know the stuff or you don't. Only gonna hurt to be sleep-deprived.

Congrats. It is pretty much impossible to get an A (8 to 10) here, you have to work really really hard for a C(+/-5,5 to 6.5) they can be a bit sadistic at times. Never had a score higher than 7,1 and that makes makes me one of the better students.

Probably going to put in a late night tonight. Nothing's due until Friday, but I should have started this paper weeks ago.

I'll let you know how things go.

Dear lord am I glad its holidays. Last semester was hell. I had an assignment due during, the first part ended up 45 pages and the second 60-odd pages.

I always try get a full nights sleep the night before, I didn't for one of my exams in the mid-semesters, and passed by default. (Everyone got an extra mark, due to a mistake by the markers).

Cool store, bro! I want some ham.
    No ham, pepsi.
They make deli slices of frozen pepsi now? Awesome!
You also need to purchase a small freezer for storage of your pepsi.
It runs on batteries. You'll need a few.
Uhh, I guess I won't have pepsi then. Do you have change for a twenty?

Cramming is extremely useful for high-school classes, because the material really isn't that difficult, even if you have trouble with it. So it's a choice between cramming and getting an hour less of sleep, or a little more sleep and no knowledge of the subject you are being tested on.

Hoo boy, last night was rough. 1.5 hours of sleep in, oh, 29 hours and counting. I'll probably be able to make it to a reasonable hour tonight, and then just crash. This is where working nights and two jobs at once over the summer really comes in handy. You just power through it.

I'd say rather than pulling an all-nighter, plan better before. I remember hearing somewhere that cramming doesn't work, and the best way to study is in little bouts over a long period of time.

Professors pretty generally tell you exactly when the test is coming, so plan out your study sessions so they're actually manageable and not stressful at all.

I just finished a research paper for a class of mine recently where I planned it out and had most of it done well before the due date, allowing me plenty of time for peer reviews and necessary alterations.

A friend of mine, on the other hand, blew it off and pulled an all-nighter to write the essay. When I looked at it it was completely incoherent and I told her so. Due to time constraints, however, she could not alter it, and was forced to turn it in as is.

Moral of the story: plan first goof off later rather than the other way around
"You must know, then, that there are two methods of fight, the one by law, the other by force: the first method is that of men, the second of beasts; but as the first method is often insufficient, one must have recourse to the second. It is therefore necessary for a prince to know well how to use both the beast and the man.

I've been having Insomnia lately from a Thesis Paper I've been working on since Mid September, and I keep thinking about parts I should change (I reread the thing more times than I can remember) and it seemed good when I turned it in, I just get massive anxiety around Finals Week.

Busy week for me, too. My finals are due the 14th, 15th, and 16th, and just before that is the Purdue Christmas Show, which I'll be performing in, so I've got 4 to 5 hours a day going into rehearsals, leaving me with less time than I'd like for my finals and papers. The one really frustrating thing at the moment, though, is my phonology, since I just can't seem to find a breakthrough on three of the four problem sets. I can't just devote time to it to get through; I need inspiration.
