    Default Move character cheat

How exactly do you use the move character cheat? The Crusades do become very tedious in trying to return soldiers home once they are complete without it, I won't use this cheat for any other purpose

In the console type move_character[space]"[name of character]"[space][x coordinate],[y coordinate]

You generally have to know the "true" name of generals to move them. For instance, if you're trying to move a character called "Haakon the Horrible", you'd have to know what Haakon's first and last name is. The game won't recognize "Haakon the Horrible" as the character's name.

[space] is obviously the use of the space bar.

You'll have to know what the x and y coordinates are for where you want to transport the unit. In such a case, place the mouse where you want the coordinates for, and type "show_cursorstat". That will show the x,y.

Best to write down the full names of all your generals as you get them. Captains and admirals almost always work. For them type "Captain [name]" or "Admiral [name]". Name being their name. Occasionally the game will give two characters the same name, and the command will work on only one of them.

There are certain times when the move character command is necessary. When random rebels (or heretics) spawn out in the middle of nowhere where it'd take several turns of travel to get there, spank them and return is an appropriate time. In these cases I move the rebel close to the settlement in the region it appeared, and properly spank the rebel for it's insolence. I once had a heretic spawn in a spot on the map where you could not access or kill, but would have caused massive heresy if left alone.

I occasionally use the character_reset command when I want to setup watch towers, and don't want to bother with the dozens of turns it'd take to move the character around my lands.

I used the move_character cheat much in the same way the OP wants to. Though usually it was to move the other factions' armies back to their original homelands once a cusade had finished. The AI gets confused and can't map find their way home - I just think its a little better for gameplay if the AI can use all of its forces to its optimum.

No doubt will use this again in my new SS GC as Teutonic Order that I just started last night after a 2 or 3 month break from the game.

You mean one can move the AI armies? How did I miss that? That will help a lot to get these poor lost souls back home. Or even better, send a stack of the Pope's men to fight the Mongols when I give him Antioch, so he can have a better fight. What a great game enhancement/cheat!

ooh, I could try to make new papacy to caffa and try to puppet it. (I have rl traits that forces me to burn rome everytime pope excommunicates me. And unfortunatelly that left pope w/o settlements.) How did I enable the console again?

nwm... It seems my reputation is "despiced" and they wont take settlement from me even if I give it for 1 gold.

If your global rep gets very low the AI factions assume you are up to some trick. Try giving them map info first and then giving the same faction the city. I can usually give the Pope a settlement if I have decent relations with him even though my global rep is in the toilet (which it is almost always after the first 50 turns or less).

To move a unit or stack there has to be a named character or general, correct?

You can move any character (army unit or agent unit) so long as you know it's real name, regardless of the faction it's a member of. So enemy armies, heretics, and inquisitors (among others) can all be moved. Family members and other generals generally have both a first and a last name, and you'll need to know this name for the command to work. For instance in one of my games I have a general called "Gerhard the Chivalrous". "the Chivalrous" is not part of his name that the game will recognize. Instead, I have to use "Gerhard Courcy" which is what his real name is.

This makes moving enemy generals somewhat difficult if they have one of those labels as part of their name.

For those times that rebel armies (or heretics) annoyed me for randomly spawning, I typically found a spot on the map where I can banish them to. In Vanilla M2TW that was typically the New World ;)

There was one game I was bored and sent a bunch of random stacks from various factions all to the middle east for a massive brawl.

Interesting thing is that you can put multiple characters/units all on the same square with this command.
