    Default New Changes!

Well, the patch without a name came with the latest DLC & MP download.

I don’t know if they have the changes listed anywhere but I have seen a few as I started a campaign just to see.

To me it looks like once again the AI is a bit more aggressive.

Some of the “screw the player” is also back in.

I am playing GB and after my governments second term it changed ministers just like it would for a Republic. Of course the King has some terrible traits that make him almost as bad as the Spanish King so maybe it was just that he was hated.

For the first time in I don’t know when GB had a war of secessions. But it was not Denmark that DoWed, it was Prussia.

That little ditty made me reload and not make peace with them during the turn so they would bring in more allies...but by doing that the king didn’t die...except if you make peace with them, then he dies...reach your own conclusions.

The economy also seems to be more into screwing the player. Even if you take over someone else’s resources your commodity prices plummet.

As soon as I took over French Guyana the price for spices went from 32 to 16 with out me upgrading the plantation. Then they dropped down to 14 which is where my other resources are, except for furs which are only 8.

In my first battle the enemy reinforcements showed up only about 150 meters from my position and to the rear.

I was in the middle of the map so it is not like they came on from the edge nor were they hidden as it was open field.

Viewing and trading techs is still bugged. Each time you pop it up you have a different combination of icons. Usually the industrial and enlightenment icons are switched but you can have three of the same or any order and combination of the three icons...though they are always in the correct selection order, as always.

To me it seems that they have made some changes in play but I have not seen any bugs they have fixed.

The bugs I saw are a little worse than they were and a few new ones are present.

What experiences are the rest of you having?

I have only played the MP campaign since the last DLC. To be honest, I have not noticed the AI being more aggressive. As to the rest of the glitches you mention, I'll have to keep my eye on them.

If there was a patch, it did not fix one annoying bug, which had crawled back into the game with the patch 1.5: random (happening now and then, not always) CTD's when a fleet carrying an army is selected...

I have only played one turn since the new update. I played a sea battle and immediatly noticed that some of my sailors and a few cannons were already lost even before I did anything (the enemy was still far away). I saw some sailers in the water behind my biggest ships.
This is the first time I've noticed such a thing so I assume it's the result of this update.

Also, are there still 'native notices' on the beginning of your turn when you're playing a grand campaign?

Prussia and Poland now auto-declare war on Austria on the first turn, regardless of setting.

I wish, for once, CA would create a starting setup where (a) France was the dominant land power (instead of Maratha) and (b) all the German states pretty much hated France's guts and would go after her instead of DoW'ing on each other and/or Poland.

    1. Prussia and Austria are allies in my game. I am playing Sweden.
    2. German states did not unite and go after France in earnest until mid-XIX century...

Did you start a new game, or are you continuing an old one? I saw Austro-Prussian alliances occaissionally before, but not since the DLC.

Austria, Prussia, and the majority of the Holy Roman Empire fought against France and Bourbon Spain in the War of Spanish Succession. Granted, the rest of the century saw Prussia and Austria going at it hammer and tongs until the French Revolutionary Wars, but it is to my mind unthinkable that Prussia and Austria would have fought amongst each other or bothered with Poland until after the threat of Louis XIV France had been dealt with. To my mind, the game start (and the first few turns) should reflect the political realities, at least in a general sense, of 1700 (e.g. Prussia and Austria allied, Bavaria allied to France rather than Austria, Germany ready to take up arms against France and Spain, Poland leaving Germany alone and vice versa, Iroquios not going on the suicide warpath against the Thirteen Colonies, etc.) Of course, currently, they really do not.

I am sure it does not help that France in game is not notably stronger than any of its neighbors for the first few turns, at least.

    It was a new campaign.

I agree, it would please our historically oriented minds more if the alliances reflected the time period more accurately :)

Then again, I am more 'disturbed' by the fact that Portugal does not own the jewel of their crown: Brazil (nor their African holdings) and it's sufficient to take Portugal's single European territory to wipe them out.

Yus well, DLC's to expand the americas and africa to cape town would have been very nice, and I would have bought them, but CA need to make them first. I don't care about savegame size anymore, Empires saves are already rediculously large, why not keep going!

I am guessing Africa (aside from North Africa) was left out because there was minimal European exploratory or military activity there until after the time period of ETW.

'Course, Portugal being represented by 1 region is really no worse than France being represented by only two. The super regions of ETW are really not suited to the territorial trading that went on in conjunction with the wars of the period. Specifically, beyond the fact that the German and Italian states were really more fractured than represented, the ETW set up makes it impossile for Britain to get Minorca or split Naples and Sicily.
