There, but for the grace of God, goes John Bradford
My aim, then, was to whip the rebels, to humble their pride, to follow them to their inmost recesses, and make them fear and dread us. Fear is the beginning of wisdom.
I am tired and sick of war. Its glory is all moonshine. It is only those who have neither fired a shot nor heard the shrieks and groans of the wounded who cry aloud for blood, for vengeance, for desolation.

Reinvent the British and you get a global finance center, edible food and better service. Reinvent the French and you may just get more Germans.

I don't understand. Is this thread about how the Okie Indians and Kinky Friedman saved Texas from being overcome by the great brown threat? Or is it a bowl game reference?
Baby Quit Your Cryin' Put Your Clown Britches On!!!
whats the point?
I thought the point was how Texas was once a nation state or sumfink like that.
The second picture would then just be symbolical for the pride of the Texans for preserving themselves and being such strong people.
Or maybe it's a reminder about the greatness of the nation ofMexicoAztlan.

To learn who rules over you, simply find out who you are not allowed to criticise.

Funny minutia about that pic; my high school track coach was one of the guys on that team. Didn't medal, but he was one of the black dudes and he did sort of protest as part of the team, got in some trouble.
Anyway, you would never have guessed it had you met him. The most mellow, even-tempered dude in all of creation. You know the stereotype of the angry, testosterone-crazed coach? He was the opposite. And he was by far the most knowledgeable, skilled guy on the athletics staff.
So yeah, I'll never forget him. Although I can't place his name for the life of me ...
So what part is it that we should never forget?
The Olympics in Mexico City?
The fact that the Republic of Texas claimed about 10 times more land than it actually controlled?
Each time they tried to exert their claims they ended in disaster.
