Thread: Problem with road

    Default Problem with road

When I played as Romani, I found that I couldn't build road at the start of main campaign. So I searched export_descr_buildings.txt file for answers.

After I removed a part of building condition of road "and building_present_min_level minimumbuilding pastoralism or building_present_min_level government govnomad", I could then build road.

I don't think this is a bug. Maybe I don't understand the reason why pastoralism and govnomad are required before you can build road. Can some tell me why the condition of road construction is set like that? thanks.

What city were you trying to build the roads in?

Rome and all other Romani cities at the start of the main campaign. Some are city and some are towns. Play with EBv1.2.

You cant build roads, becouse your setlements need to be upgraded, there is nothing more to it. I build roads in my romani campaing just fine.

Why i town would have paved roads?? Anyway there is some buildings, that only when you build a governemental building, not the provisory one, they became avaiable, like roads, and ports etc.

Dirt roads need a town with a government of the following types: 1, 2, 3, 4, or Pastoralism.

Paved roads need a "minor city", a type 1, 2, 3, or 4 government, and of course the dirt roads. They cannot be built by Casse, Getai, Lusotannan, Swêboz, Saba, Sauromatae or Saka Rauka.

Highways require a "large city" and paved roads. They can only be built by the Romans.

well you need a government type building in the area before you can build any public works ... think if there was no local governor/council members then who the hell is going to organise , then embezzle most of the funding?!

For towns, I am ok if no paved road is constructable. But for city like Rome, I feel a little confused if no road (level1) and paved_road can be built. By the way, when you say "I build roads in my romani campaing just fine", do you mean you can build road for the city of Rome at turn 1 in main campaign?

Actualy i just experiment, and on turn one Rome, has already a road built, and there is a paved road avaiable to build on the queque, so my guess is you probabily are confusing something. for instance pastoralism is only avaiable to nomadic factions, as far i remember. In playing a pahlava campaing, i had pastoralism to build, as a form of governament. But Rome doesnt have that. Did you have been moding your game?, or use any sub-mods? If you start a romani campaing on EB campaing, 1.2 with fixes, you should be able to build roads on Rome from the start.
    here for instance.

Knight of Heaven, thank you for posting a screenshot here. I probably had a corrupted installation because in my building panel, I don't see the icons of "Camilian Reform Era", the barrack and type I gov building as appears in your screenshot. So I went to re-install the EB mods now I see the same info from my campaign screen as you did. Of course, I can build road as the start of my campaign now.

    again, thanks alot!

Ha ha ha, accurate and funny observation of antiquity, for of course no one does that kind of thing today LOL.

One thing that someone almost touched on but didn't quite elaborate. It sounds like you edited the buildings for a nomad faction. I think the parthians have an internal name as one of the roman factions, they use pastrolism as one of their governments anyway(which the romans don't). If you want to edit the buildings or units or anything for a faction its important to know their internal names. The Romani are 'Seleucid'. So technically the old seleucid faction got reskinned into the romans you see now. make sure you edit that internal faction to change the romans in-game.

I'll post the list because I can't remember where its been posted before:
    Game name - Internal name

    Rome - seleucid
    Saka Rauka - pontus
    Arverni - scythia
    Saba - saba
    Macedon - macedon
    Ptolemaioi - numidia
    Arche Seleukia - romans_julii
    Karthadast - egypt
Parthia - parthia (looks like I was wrong, maybe this whole post was a waste of effort...)
    Pontus - carthage
    Aedui - gauls
    Sweboz - germans
    Casse - britons
    Hayasdan - romans_scipii
    Getai - dacia
    Koinon Hellenon - greek_cities
    Baktria - romans_brutii
    Sauromatae - armenia
    Lusotann - spain
    Epirus - thrace

Hope this helped at least, even if it doesn't serve the OP much its useful to know.
