Default what's wrong with the moral in this game?

I am saying this because I had loads of bad experiences with the games moral and AI!

I had a full strength unit of generals body guards running away from Militia! this caused insta-rout making my army rout, and losing!

your general dies because of militia ----> you army thinks the enemy is some sort of superhuman fighting force ----> they flee in terror.

    makes perfect sense to me!

Well, the game is centred on imperialism and war.

You also might be charging cavalry into well-formed lines. Even if it is militia, that hurts.

My general was behind my lines, then I noticed that the general was wavering, then fled taking 3 of my line infantry with him!

Bear in mind that the three units were all ready at half strength, and were concerned.

I still don't know why the general fled though?

Yeah, or maybe he had a heart attack. If you plant your general too close behind you lines, though, a stray bullet could be to blame.

There are such things as stray bullets.

Maybe he found out that the enemy troops were raiding the supply camp and maybe he had his wife there to protect.

An AAR is an After Action Review.

It tells the story of the battle. What went right, what went wrong, and things like that.

It is not a bad idea, especially if you had a big problem. either you or us might see what the cause was and they are entertaining.

Did any of the body guard take any hits with stay bullets at all. Shot can go past its range and hit units behind your front lines if you leave them too close. Also getting shot and not being able to shoot back dose not do moral any good.

His wife was at full strength? It doesn't matter, she couldn't fight off an army; he had to go back and get her.

I've had it happen before myself . General was on a hill well above and a good distance from the actual fighting when it happened .
It sounds like one of those bugs that we'll be told is in our imagination .
It's probably happened to others whom simply assumed the unit took a hit or some such so didn't realise .
I do hope it isn't some cheesy "well sometimes people panic for no reason" "feature" that they forgot to mention .

Mabey the moral calculations might in vary rare instances forget to drop penalties for the generals' unit that have stopped being valid or might perhaps be dumping those of several other units on the general ? I'm gust wildly guessing though .
7 out of 10 people like me ,
I'm not going to change for the other three .

This is what happened to me recently during a naval battle. I loaded the battle screen but had to leave, so I didn't click start. I left the computer running. It took me longer than I expected to get back (around 4 hours) so , when I finally reached home again, I thought I'd play it quick and move forward.

The battle was a sloop + 2 frigates as reinforcements (me) against a galleon. Practically immediately after I hit the start battle the sloop started to waver, flag went white and it surrendered. Strangely enough, the AI galleon moved in firing distance and stayed there. My reinforcements showed up, behaving correctly. I brought them in firing range as well and gunned the galleon into surrender - the galleon didn't respond in any way.

As a result of the battle I lost the sloop (with the sinking animation) and gained the galleon (which I kept).

So, I'm not sure it's the same thing as the fleeing general from the field, but looks like it's somewhere in the same league.

PS - I play time limit battles.
