Is there actually a way to turn off your HUD while playing a game? Thought console or so?

Is there actually a way to turn off your HUD while playing a game? Thought console or so?

Yes - at least if you're using minimal UI. To get that, go into the where-ever-you-installed-it\Rome - Total War\EB\preferences folder. There you'll find a file called preferences.txt. Make a backup of it (copy it somewhere else), then open it and find the line saying "MINIMAL_UI: FALSE". Change "FALSE" to "TRUE", save and exit. Then you have the minimal ui when fighting battles.

After this, when in a battle, press F5 to remove the overview map, F6 twice to remove the unit orders (pressing it once makes the panel stay in place, as opposed to the default of hiding), and F7 to remove the unit list. If you want or feel a need to, you can then also press ctrl + F2 to remove that box which appears when you hover your mouse over a unit.
