Trouble running v1.1

Ok, I've downloaded version 1.1 and the patch to make it v1.2. After installing v1.1 I wanted to try it out before installing the patch so make sure I did everything correctly. When I start it, it begins loading correctly and goes to the parchment like screen that says "Europa Barbarorum" and all that, but then it freezes, forcing me to restart my computer. Oh and my OS is Windows XP.

I am going to pose the obvious questions first:

1) How long did you wait? EB takes a long time to load, especially if your computer isn't that fast or hasn't got a whole load of RAM.

2) Did you read the stickies in this forum and follow their advice?
