Thread: Character move

    Default Character move

    Hello.
Probably this has been asked before. I'm a longtime lurker and I'm sure I've seen the thing somewhere. I've spent several hours searching for the Romani internal names and the only thing I found was what Mediolanicus posted sometime, somewhere:

    "Xxxx = first name
    Yyyy = surname

    Aediu : Xxxx of_aedui(Yyyy)
Arverni : Xxxx arvernioiYyyy The "oi" can also be "moc" or what ever words goes before the FM's surname.
    Carthage : Xxxx ofcarthago
    Pahlava : Xxxx of_parthia
    Sweboz : Xxxx der_deutsch
    Casse : Xxxx of_catuvellauni
    Hay : Xxxx ofarmenia
    Sauro : Xxxx steppenwulf
    Saka : Xxxx saka_soab

Makedonia : Xxxx ofmakedon ? apparently not. Just the normal way.

    SPQR is known

The rest should be the normal way..."

I don't really know what "SPQR is known" means...
I've been trying to move some Romani generals to protect southern Italy against the Epirotes in my Mak game, but every time I try they either disappear or gets teleported to the 0,0 coordinates, the corner near Terhazza.

    This is what I write:

    move_character Marcvs Corelivs Scipio 104,124 <-- teleported to 0,0
move_character Marcvs Corelivsscipio <-- he disappears

If I do it with brackets it says "character not found" and if I try with "MarcvsA"(-K) it says the same.
I get the same results if I try other generals.

There's probably an easy answer to this but...

The internal names of roman FMs are different from the displayed names. Their last name is always "Romanvs"; their first name is something like Marivs, MarivsA, MarivsB till MariusK.

To find out the internal name of a roman FM, you could try a cheat like character_reset, that can't do any harm to your game. If your FM is called "Manivs Aurelivs Cotta", you start typing "Manivs Romanvs", "ManivsA Romanvs" and so on till "ManivsK Romanvs". If you type the name of an existing FM, he will get his movement points reset and be selected, so you know his internal name and can use the move_character cheat without screwing up your game.

Ok, so I type "move_character Marcvs Romanvs 97,123" and the right guy disappears. If I do it with brackets it says "destination not valid". I have tried 9 different coordinates, one in the empty steppe, but only 2 of them doesn't give "destination not valid"...
I tried with A-K too, and they didn't work.

There is a huge number of threads about this, so do a little forum search.

I'm not sure how it works for the Romans, since i have problems of getting the character internal name, but never with the region. You must time as follows. I will give you an example for lvcivs avrelivs cotta (if he exists)

    move_character "Lvcivs Romanvs"92,39
    Europa Barbarorum Secretary

Yes, I found a huge number of threads about moving around other factions generals in the hours I spent looking, none about moving Romani.

But thank you very much anyways, it was the space after the name that messed it up. They're moved and ready now.

    Hey guys,

I know this thead is kind of old, but there are some questions about those roman names, for which I don't want to open a new thread.

As far as I know Roman FM and Agents are selected by there first name and the hidden familyname "Romanvs". And I do know, that i.e. the further mentioned character "Marcvs Corelivs Scipio" could have the first name "Marcvs" to "MarcvsK".

I tried to select my generals to give them certain traits, but I could not select them all, since there are more than one "Marcvs" (or another first name). I just thought about that and came to the point, that they are named with the same first name. Is that true? For example:

    MarcvsC Corelivs Scipio
    MarcvsC Corelivs Cotta

And because of that I can only select one of them. Or am I wrong in a lack of information and just don't know how to do it?

    kind regards

The more FM'S your imperium will have, the higher is the chance to get duplicate names. How the game decides which one will be selected is IIRC not researched.
Before giving traits to FM's or moving them, one should try to identify them by using character_reset

Due to the limitations of the RTW-engine and the will of the team to represent the Romans rightful, I doubt that there is a easy solution.

    Hi XSamatan,

thanks for your repley. I allways use character_reset to idetify my characters. But anyhow, it's difficult. I've got 4 Marcvs right now and all of them seem to be "MarcvsC" - There is no possibility for me to get 3 of them selected. Bad luck ;)

Anyway a different question: Is it possible to get rid of my agents? Means, is it possible to kill/disband them or at least make them disappear?

    Kind regards

IIRC the kill_character cheat doesn't work with 1.5, so you only can either send them on highly risky missions (spies and assasins) or send them pirate hunting (the same you can do with lausy FM's)
