Default better perfomance with M2TW than with RTW

I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this:

with M2TW I can throw 3 full stacked armies set on huge and set the graphic settings to their highest and I run perfectly.

But when I do the same for RTW I get lag like crazy.

I am not looking for a fix, just an explaination.

Yeah, That happened on VISTA!!! (That's the exact thing why I put my EB playing mostly in my laptop after my stupid cousin "repair" my desktop and installed Vista.... XP is just the best for playing RTW)

I've experienced the same thing on my roomate's PC. M2TW runs fine with some of the DX10 features disabled (like armor glow). RTW was lagging at max detail when i fought with two full stacks (especially when the Onagers started firing).

However when i fight sometimes in M2TW i get the "Enemy forces delayed?" message which reads how my PC can't display all the units at the same time..
