Unlocking unplayable factions

Is there a mod already that is Vanilla + the unplayable factions. I like the game as it is atm i just would like to play as some of the minor factions. I have read about it being done on MTW before by just changing a single line.

Is there already a mod for this, or if there is not is there a quick way of modding this?

For RTW and M2TW it was just a copy & paste job. E:TW however, is more involved. There is a mod or two out there, or you can do it yourself.

This should unlock all the factions for you. It changes nothing else.

do a search for the current startpos.esf. I can't remember the path at the moment.

What does it do after you select a faction? Does it matter what faction?

Yes, but the protectorate factions run into trouble if you do it yourself.

The other minor factions are in that link I provided, let me know if its out of date and i'll update and make another.

If by "trouble", you mean that the game crashes after a number of turns, then yes, they do indeed. There's no way to fix this?
