Default Rebelling City - CTD - No dead factions

OK, I am having a problem with Syrakousai revolting, but the problem is, there are no factions which are dead. I thought this CTD only occurred when the city in question rebelled to a faction which no longer exists. In this case I just get a CTD when I press the end turn button. I am playing as the Romani. I know how to prevent the rebellion, but I am wondering if there is anyway around it.

On a different note, the reason I want the city to rebel again is to that I can enslave the remaining 10K population, and disperse them through other settlements. Seeing as the rebellion causes a CTD, I could technically reduce the population of Syracuse by 9600 (through cheat), and then use the same cheat to add this figure throughout other of my cities. I ask, would this have the same effect as of enslaving the people, or is there some sort of script applicable only to enslavement which I would miss out by simulating it with cheating? Or any other effects?

    Thanks in advance.

Rebellions are a problem in any progress of the game, the RTW engine can't give the city to the intended owner, and tadah...CTD.

IIRC the enslave option (the lowest) just kills the population. The middle option sends the inhabitants to exile, but I think this option gives you no trade bonus, just the population bonus. So your way by simulating this with cheat should give the same effect.

    Thanks XSamatan,

There are three options, I think they are first ''Occupy'', second ''Expel'' and third ''Enslave''. While in E.B the last option actually means 'exterminate' and I gather its description that 'population to be sold into slavery x' is aesthetic.

So yes, I meant 'expel' which actually 'disperses x population amongst governed settlements'. Btw, does this literally mean 'settlements which have governors in them'?

Back to topic, I managed to let the rebellion happen by destroying the 'game field' in the city as suggested in one of the help threads.

Great that it works now for you!

The population boost counts only for cities with governors, as IIRC the additional growth is handled by the RTW engine with hidden traits.
