As the title says, during battles a unit of mine will occasionally glow. By glow, I mean sparkles will appear around them. It's not some glitch either, it's an animation, it's just that I want to know what it means when a unit starts to glow?

"Possunt quia posse videntur." - Virgil - "They can because they think they can."
They are vampires.By glow, I mean sparkles will appear around them.
Seriously though, what it means is that they have just received an experience upgrade.

Ah...that would explain it. Thanks for the answer Hax.

For a more serious answer, it means they just got promoted...check the stripes of the unit, and you'll immediately see the difference...
The funniest to me, is when you are sieging a town, and the ai is running its units around under missile fire and they are dying like flies, then suddenly they get the "glow" when there are only half a dozen left.
So you basically get promoted for dying
EDIT: Damn my eyesight must be going, just noticed that Hax gave you the sensible answer, but missed it above the banner.

The engine tracks experience for individual soldiers rather than units (although morale at least is calculated on the unit rather than soldier basis). Promotion merely means an increase in the average experience of the unit. And the average can go up if the unit's rookies are taken out.
