Thread: Every man has his price???

Default Every man has his price???

So I'm playing a campaign and there is an enemy general I want to have defect to my faction for RP reasons. The problem is, when I talk to him with a diplomat, the option to bribe the sucker never shows up I thought this might just mean I don't have enough cash so I sat around typing in the add_money cheat until I had well over 2,000,000 mnai. The bibe option still doesn't show up. Any idea whats going on here? Are some characters impossible to bribe, or do I just have to offer this guy a HUGE amount of cash?

    Anyone else had this problem?

P.s. Is there any other way to get the character to defect? Is there a cheat code for that that I don't know of?

OOPS I meant to put this in the general EB forum... feel free to move it over there if you want to mods...

He's either the faction leader or faction heir and those two can't be bribed. Otherwise with the necessary amount of cash, you could bribe an entire faction instead of fighting them at least once.

Even when you've destroyed an opposing faction (by taking all their cities) and you approach your diplomat to bribe the former faction leadear/heir (now an eleutheroi FM) the bribing option won't be available.

It's not a matter about how much money you own, the option to try a bribe appears even if you have 400 mnai in your treasure.

That's the thing... he isn't the leader or the heir! Maybe he was the heir and the AI changed to another character. Would that make him unbribable?

It's probably because your diplomat sucks, if you have a diplomat with low influence that tries to bribe a FM with high influence then the bribe option doesn't show up.

Try it with a better diplomat or give your diplomat some good traits.

That's not true, I've bribed at least two former faction leaders during my campaigns in FATW, which is an RTW mod, too. In fact, it's a great way to gain very exotic ancillaries if you have the money.

Problem solved... The FM must have had really high base loyalty. He had no visible traits giving him bribe resistance, but the option still wouldn't show up even after I gave myself over 4,000,000 mnai! Eventually I went to the txt files and found some character traits that make FMs easier to bribe (corrupt, venal, etc.). I gave these to the guy using codes and managed to get him for less than 500,000. Then I removed the traits and reimbursed myself the money (since I was RPing that he defected to my faction by choice).
