Default Frame rate problem (Lock please)

At new year, I installed EB 1.2 on a blank HDD.
Everything went smoothly, no problem installing EB (plus force diplomacy minimod) and the game runs fine; however, if I reload or quit and re enter the game, the frame rate goes wrong. It alternates between a normal rate and sometimes speeds up for a second or two and then goes back to normal.

    Here's my specs:
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4600+
    2GB RAM
    Windows XP SP3
    NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT

Try to disable campaign-shadows. Some people helped this.

The reloading loads the (heavvy) EB-script new into memory, but due to the RTW-memory leak not all of the previous version can be deleted from your memory, so EB will run slower and slower(IIRC). Quitting EB and loading then should resolve your problem.

    Campaign shadows are already off.

And reloading, getting a CTD or quitting and restarting the game lead the same result.

    Wow, fast reply!

Your specs look nice, should be enough to play EB without lags. Are these just happening on campaign map or also in the battles?

One thing that even lags my system is if a unit has a movement order on campaign map that extends its radius, I'll just walk with any other unit/FM/.. and this resolves the lag, but I'm sure you've heard of that.

A last question: Please see in the EB main-menu if there is 1.2 as version showed.

    I'll elaborate.

That's not a lag (if a lag means slowing down), it speeds up.
It happens on the campaign map (the clouds get sudden "gust effect") and battle map (units crashing at high speed - can lead to unexpected results - , rotating camera slightly and doing a 180°)

I experimented a bit and I noticed the phenomenon happens if I start the game, load a save, exit directly without running the script and restart, reload and run the script.
That's really strange, 2 minutes are very little time to overload the cache (if the cache is at fault... probably not); at the same time, I can browse the web, work on words or whatever, and eventually launch the game, it will run fine on the first time.

As for my game settings, I can't tell accurately, but they're on the medium/high bar, no shadows, no anti aliasing.

EB 1.2 for sure; you can't miss the logo. And the client ruler changed from 1.1, I didn't miss that either.

hmm...then I misunderstood your starting post completely

What I have in mind tells me that your CPU has some sort of 32bit/64bit virtualization which might have sth to to with your problem. In the moment I can't point the thread I had read about this specific problems but I'll search.

EDIT: Try to let RTW run only on one CPU. I got no AMD system, so no clue where to change that value. Others state that the hyperthreading causes this sort of problems. As this may affect the stability of your current system: Do it at your own risk..
