Getting Unspecified Error Crash

I hope someone can help me with this, it has been a long time since I have played Total War.
I have just installed it on my laptop which has Core2 Duo 1.50Ghz cpu, 2GB of ram and an NVidia 8400M GS graphics card, The OS is Win7.
I have installed Kingdoms (not patched) and am trying to run an old mod that I had made. I transfered all the files from my old PC.
Everything seems to be going well, the game loads fine, the strat map plays fine but when I enter battle I get an unspecifeid error crash. I am using the error log but all it says at the bottom is MTW2 crashed because of an unspecified error.
I have changed the compatability so that the mod runs in XPsp3 mode and that helps a little, I can get right up to the start battle part, then it crashes.
I have tried running some custom battles and they all work fine.
If someone could help me get to the bottom of what is causing the crash that would be great, I did a lot of work on the mod and can't face starting from scratch to get it right.
I have put the error log to *trace
I am hoping someone will be able to spot an error and help me out.

How much memory do you have dedicated to your graphics chip?

It's only got 64Mb dedicated, so it says on the box. It must draw the rest from spare ram as checking it in dxdiag says it has 818Mb. I didn't think the card would be too much of a problem, I can run UT3 on the laptop fine. It also doesn't have a problem with custom battles. Do you think it's that?
