What is so surprising there? A penalty shot scored is nothing unusual. Penalty shots from that distance with no defenders (I only know the official term for that in Russian - my knowledge of futbol is entirely in Russian) tend to succeed more than they fail from what I have seen. And before I turned 11, I never missed a single Confederations Cup or the World Cup match.

Of course. But that's not what's special about that penalty, the awesomeness comes from the arrogance he displays taking the shot.
Still maintain that crying on the pitch should warrant a 3 match ban

It's the outerworldly coolness of Socrates - philosopher, musician, doctor. In his spare time, he played some footy too.

A true World Cup needs the drama of a genius team not winning it. One of the best examples is Brazil's 1982, captained by Socrates. Back when Brazil was still the hottest ticket in world football: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zZxvYy5-ekI

    Exquisite.
