Thread: Paintball/BB Gun vs FPS Multiplayer

Default Paintball/BB Gun vs FPS Multiplayer

I came to a point where I feel the need to get out and exercise more after playing MW2 every night. Then I realized that if I actually ran the amount I did in MW2, I'd be a very fit person. So I thought of joining a paintball club.

That's when I started to wonder:

    1. Like in MW2, does jumping or dropping down to the ground when you shoot give you an advantage in a paintball game?

    2. Like in MW2, are you harder to hit when you constantly run around?

    3. Is camping allowed in a paintball game? Would players be annoyed if you hide in one place during the whole game? What if you never get found?

    4. Do people shuffle to the side when they shoot in a paintball game?

    Hmm......
    Wooooo!!!

It would be very expensive, plus you need to find the other players to do it with you.

And er, you know that bit in MW2 when the screen goes red and fuzzy and the sounds go distant? Well that correlates with a good deal of pain in a paintball game.

But running around in the woods shooting your mates is fun. I used to love airsoft battles as a teenager.

Yes. Running and weaving can make you much harder to hit, especially at range.

But computer games fail to capture the sense of danger I find, where you stand in the open and shoot at each other till a life bar runs out. When one bullet is all it takes to take you out of the game, and the bullets are flying around you as you lie in a muddy ditch behind a log that suddenly seems a lot smaller close up that it did from a distance, then it suddenly becomes very hard to get up and run, shoot, or in fact do anything except hide.

^ i hope there was a tiny bit of satire in that comment.

No people dont mind camping. I had a long barrel attachment for my tipman custom back in the day and i would find a good spot and do whatever i wanted for almost the whole game. Of course i camp in mw2 as well even the scorned dead body camp.

Hmm, you actually can't truly shot while jumping

BTW, I only played paintball twice, when my friend invite me for free... and after that, I still prefer going out in the mountain, carrying my airgun, and hunting wild boars, birds, and monkeys are far better.

You honestly expect us to believe that? Those are not boars you are hunting, because if you were hunting real boars, you would be hunting them with a semi-automatic, scoped marksman rifle of a 14mm calibre and with an extra-long barrel to give it a high velocity.

If you are hunting pig-like critters, then they are probably more closely related to peccaries than boars. A boar is too dangerous to hunt with an air-gun.

EDIT: Yes, I just checked, and it says that the Southeast Asian pigs are more related to peccaries than the 'classical' boars. Yep, it says exactly that. Unless you were hunting Babirusa, which look more formidable, but are found in Eastern Islands of Indonesia (Wallacea) and I doubt that is where you live, right?

14mm? That's over half an inch. Seems excessive.

Yes, it is fifty-cal as I believe they call it in US, but it is not excessive, not for boar. 12mm and 14mm are the standard big-game guns as well as standard military HMG calibres. Boar is not as large, but as they say, it is not the size of the dog, but the size of the fight in the dog. I have observed boar-hunting in Russia - those animals are mad.

The same is supported in writing. According to what I have read, boar hunting is about as dangerous as you can get without tigers, some bears, and elephants (even though elephants are actually very undetermined fighters - African tribesmen allege buffalo are more dangerous. Biologists say it is because grown elephants are not used to being attacked by anything - it was only recently that NG found a certain isolated case of lion prides daring a night attack on a healthy adult elephant).

Search the Internet for boar hunting - you should be able to find the same info. Just don't forget that feral pigs are not the same as boar - often the two are confused or used interchangeably (i.e. male feral pigs are referred to as boar)

Yeah.... Pecaries... well, we did have a same name for them "Babi Hutan" -> literally forest pigs...
Anyway, with just an airgun, you can't expect that tasty creature to die on the shot alone... they are mostly stunned, and often only slowed... carrying a knive to finish them off is what all it takes... I just hope the government made shotgun ownership easier though, so I can hunt better creatures...

And I never crazy enough to hunt Babirusa... they only live in sulawesi, and they are near extinct species... shooting one will spark an international outcry and I don't want my name carved in your newspapers

Well, wild monkeys are considered pest here, despite international outcries to ban their hunt ... did anyone still remember my thread about wild animal trade in Indonesia? you can look that monkeys are illegal to trade, but legal to be killed and eaten here

And why protect a kind of animal that was never cease to breed soo much, to be considered a threatening pests?

Paintball is great fun but be sure to rent a gun and the requisite equipment before you spend any real money, as its not for everyone.

    Also, wear a cup.

    Lucky you

All I get here is saltwater fishing and duck/deer hunting if I had a firearm. But all three are boring. My passion is freshwater fishing. Namely, finding a creek (small river) and settling down for a nice quiet spot on the shore, with reeds and still water... Ahh, I can almost feel those many times I have done that in Russia... Somehow, it is not same here in the South of US. The forests are atrocious too. Not the varied, deciduous, non-coniferous, beautiful and somehow strangely comfortable deep forests of Eastern Europe. In here, the forests are a monotonous tangle. Even in the North, it is not the same. I dunno, but there is something special about Eastern European forests, something I have seen in Western European forests as well. Partially, it is the familiarity, but still... Oh the nostalgia...

And most of all, I love mushroom hunting in the autumn. There are hundreds of varieties of edible mushrooms in Eastern Europe, and all are very distinct and graceful. All have their nicknames their special places where you can find them. You also have the rare and valuable mushrooms, such as the prized belyi grib (the unusually large and thick white mushroom - that is also what its name translates to) or the yaziki (a very peculiar fungi which grows in moist, large holes in the wood of the bottom of large trees - the fungi itself is red and slimy on the top - its name in Russian means 'tongue' - which it resembles in all respects. The fungus is very tasty, though, and is usually the size of an medium-large laptop screen).

This is sort of what I mean by a European forest:

Oh, nice forest AP! and here is mine, taken in my favourite hunting ground 2 years ago.... well, that was the forest of fogs.... you won't believe that this forest was located in the tropic about 2500 m high , near the Papandayan peak... about 2 and half hours of bus riding from bandung and an hour walking for a while.

I was about to say the same thing. As to peccaries. oh its soooooooo delicious. My dad goes out to the southwest every once in awhile and i love some peccary.

Anyway i hunt alot where i live (mid atlantic east coast) deer and bird mostly. Deer hunting with a bow is very enjoyable and i was raised on bird hunting by my father. We have an english setter and let me tell you when she points those birds and you flush them out its an adrenaline race.

one of my dads anceint friends in montana has a mounted boars head. Those things skulls can supposedly stop a low caliber bullet.
