Before we utilised the public smoking ban in summer 2007, the legal age for purchasing cigarettes was sixteen, and so it was fairly easy for schoolkids to get their hands on them. I remember that stuff; on one of my incisors, the metal part didn't settle into the glue stuff properly and I was able to spin it around the wire with my tongue. And then one week later when I finally managed to get an appointment, the orthodontist goes "YOU SHOULD HAVE CALLED IMMEDIATELY!" as though I was deaf. That guy was a total d-bag.

This won't be a problem once you learn the thresholds of what you can and cannot eat/drink, Thermal. Just make sure you factor in the temperature of food as well as the texture; I couldn't eat ice cream for a while after the tightening, for example. :3
