Else we'd know for sure Pizza was innocent right away when the kills failed to drop -- there's no margin whatsoever in the mafia dropping to one kill voluntarily this early in the game, just to neutralize Pizza.

If you think you know that the mafia will continue with two kills once one slave is dead, I'd be interested in knowing where you learned that.

Me too, I was under the impression that if one slave died, the Ancient can't do a night kill. So then wouldn't there only be one kill if there is one slave?

What? The setting has nothing to do with whether or not there is a role that kills everyone when lynched.

I think that's specifically NOT in the rules:

At the start of the game, instead of selecting the mafia at random, I will select the Ancient Vampire (who is nameless to you, but he'll receive a nice role pm and his secret name), whose job is to PM me with the names of two other players. They will become his slaves. As long as his slaves are alive, the Ancient will not kill.

Each slave will be capable of killing one townie. When both slaves are dead (and only then), the "Ancient" will be able to kill one townie a night.

my bolding. So IF pizza is a slave (I don't think he is - he talks more like a townie this game, IMO), murders should reduce to 1 per night upon his lynch.

Maybe it's because there are only three mafia to start with (Ancient + 2 slaves) so there isn't a lot of plotting going on behind the scenes?

For the record, atheotes' quotes comes from a while back, when he invited me to Capo III (the last one was III, right?) and I had just come out of several large games with a lot of behind the scenes action. Shadow Fort was likewise similar and I had no idea what was going on. This one, like it was mentioned by Greyblades, is easier to follow. (Or so it seems at the moment.) Also, I read every single posts in the large games I play, I'm often very up to date, I just don't usually feel I have much to add.

Just did a quick skim through, I think ATPG's request to be lynched is just a easy wagon for mafia.

Methinks better to just random lynch someone rather than let the voting stand so inconclusively with less than 5-6 votes a person, hardly a clear majority with 3 mafia after all
