Thread: Can MTW run on Vista 64bit?
lancelot 03:24 03-09-2010
Hi, was having some trouble getting the game to load on vista 64bit. The title screen loads, I select a nation and then it CTD.

Is there any known issues with this or am I going to have to dig an old machine out & play on that?

Many thanks for any help in advance.

Your graphics card is?

By the sounds of it this will fix it.

Apparently I spoke too soon. When I went to fight a battle the screen went all flickery and the mouse icon started to drag & became unplayable.

Can anyone help please?

That sounds like the nVidia issue Kaidonni got stuck on (in the same thread). Do you have a 8- or 9-series nVidia card?

Hi, yes I have a Nvida GeForce 8800 GT.

I tried seting the antialiasing to 2x as suggested in the advice section but when I do, as soon as the game loads it flicks between the game & the desktop. It doesnt crash, its like it is minimising itself. Net result is still unplayable tho.

Im not sure I want (or am confident enough) to start installing older drivers and whatnot.

Is there anything else I can try?

Thanks to al for the help so far.

Do you have other things open when playing? I find that having other stuff open but minimized causes a similar effect with some of my other older games. Especially when I have Firefox open in the background. Try closing everything, except MTW and see if that resolves it.
