Ok, for the sake of the game. I'm quitting Ottoman empire and going to take the Germans.
Suffer the weakest German empire ever!

First of all, I am back. Had a nice weekend with my family and now I am ready to start this game!

    Thank You!

That leaves Russia, Austro-Hungarian Empire and France.

Russian Empire - If the Player can keep the people happy, economy checked and get some early victories(and not facing defeats like the Battle of Tannenberg) then Russia can become one of the strongest empires in this game. It's even possible to keep the Czar in power and never face the revolution.

Austro-Hungarian Empire - Though they are surrounded by enemies(both Player and NPC countries), they do have a chance to be victorious. If Balkan states(Serbia, Albania, Montenegro) are crushed during the first few turns then the Player can concentrate most of their powers against Russia.

France - How can you not win playing as the French? You have many colonies, your industrial center is close to your border. Smart play, lots of diplomacy and the victory is yours!

It would be interesting seeing Subotan playing as France again!

Anyway, I notified some people about the game. Hopefully they will join.

spl1tper50nal1ty takes Russia. He can still read PM's, answer visitor messages and will be watching but he will get internet on 1st of July if you are interested doing diplomacy with him.

So, that means France and Austria are still available. 2 more players and we can start!

I'm waiting what couple people decide. If they join then we have full house(all empires taken) and we can finally start.

Double A - it was easy to get players to 30YW because it was a new thing and because I allowed people taking even some smaller nations.

Why don't Centurion and Drizzty break off and one of them take the remaining nation?

That way, we're not sat around waiting for another player when we have two controlling one nation. :3

I sent them PM asking if one of them would like to take France(being on the same side etc).
Also, Prince Cobra said he will give his answer tomorrow(actually today *watching the clock*).

Subotan - France is easier. Just keep sending thousands of soldiers on front and 4 years later declare yourself a winner. they also have colonies.
Austria is harder. You must constantly check what others are doing. However, you don't have to worry about navy and colonies since Austria don't have them.

Parla più piano e nessuno sentirà, il nostro amore lo viviamo io e te,
nessuno sa la verità, neppure il cielo che ci guarda da lassù.
    Insieme a te io resterò,
    amore mio, sempre così.
Parla più piano e vieni più vicino a me, Voglio sentire gli occhi miei dentro di te,
nessuno sa la verità, è un grande amore e mai più grande esisterà.

After some dignified begging vladimir has said he would like to join the game. Ibn he will either be contacting you soon or you can initiate contact if you desire.

Purely in the interests of the game actually starting, rather than any sort of tactical advantage.

Ibn stated that he wanted the game to begin on the anniversary of Gavrilo Princip's assassination of the Archduke and Duchess of Hohenberg, which was ninety-six years ago to the day... yesterday. It's a shame we missed it, but hopefully we can get going now we've got a full roster; I'm sure any more interested players can join one of the current nations. :3

I'm waiting the response from Prince Cobra or Vladimir. If one of them joins as Austria then we can start. And it is a shame we missed the date but that is partly my fault. Should have advertised this game more and had the thread moved here sooner.

I step in as Emperor Franz Joseph. It is temporary decision since I will leave the IH at some point. But for the time I am part of it... let's have fun.

Interestingly enough, WW1 was everything Metternich fought against. Nationalism, alliance system, influence of Austria (now Austria-Hungary). The battle is lost. But... WW1 is a decadent and horrible... A nightmare... A war with big loser and smaller loser. Hope this time Austria will be amongst the smaller losers. Amen!

P.S. I welcome new players to join the Austrian staff! First, the Emperor is just a figure head during such a war, and second, I will have to leave at one point.

PS2 And let's move the game thread into the Chapter House.

Yes you can join. Just PM Prince Cobra. I think he doesn't mind you helping him.

I'll send the details about the empires to the leading players(if there are more than one) and post the game thread(for IC diplomatic announcements etc) tomorrow. It's quite late in here and I don't want to make any mistakes with the infos.

However, I can tell you how many cities each of you have. These are the cities on your core hexes(not counting colonial cities).
    British Empire (2): London, Edinburgh
France (5): Paris, Nancy, Brest, Bordeaux, Marseilles
    Italy (3): Rome, Milan, Venice
    Austro-Hungarian Empire (4): Vienna, Budapest, Trieste, Lvov(Lemberg)
German Empire (5): Berlin, Königsberg, Munich, Hamburg, Frankfurt
Russian Empire (7): St. Petersburg, Warsaw, Archangelsk, Moscow, Sevastopol, Rostov, Tbilisi
Ottoman Empire (5): Istanbul(Constantinople), Angora, Alexandretta, Erzerum, Baghdad, Jerusalem
United States of America (1): Washington
