Default How to get battle controls to default?

    Hi,

I have a stupid question, but I just had some resolution changes and the command bar in the bottom half of the screen is gone. Now there only the unit cards shown and the battle controls are round in the top of the screen. It's terrible. How do I get the original setting back?

    Thanks,
    scutum

Hi, I've had the same problem in IBFD. Here's what you can do:

    1) find the "preferences" file in [RTW folder]/EB/preferences
    2) change MINIMAL UI = TRUE to MINIMAL UI = FALSE.

Thanks, btw for some reason the game options doesn't allow 1280*720 resolution (it is allowed for the battle) for the strategy map? Would it make it more unstable if I edited it to the preferences?

Eh, you'll get used to it. It's actually more effective, as it allows you to see more of the battlefield.

I can't see how that Minimal UI is more effective, it could be just me but I always click unintended the unit abilities cos they are in the upperscreen and when I try to double click somewhere on the field to go to it quickly I select a unit

Exactly. It is not very well done. Supreme Commander - Forged Alliance has a very good "minimal" UI (you can click away element you don't need, but your scrolling is not impeded by sliding interface elements), but RTW doesn't. It annoyed the hell out of me until I finally found the remedy.

You have minimal UI enabled, you can change this in the preferences.txt file. I do believe there is a quicker way using the trivial script but I don't use this, an options choice on the start tab?
