Darksiders, excellent

Since I am not to pay the price they want for God of War 3 I picked up something else, glad I did because this is one fun game. Think God of War meets Zelda meets Diablo, and it comes together wonderfully. First of all, the hero is cool. Being a Horseman of the Apocalypse is just that, cool. Being a Horseman of the Apocalypse in a post-apocalypse setting, even better. The enviroments are mixed bag, sometimes you think you are playing a PS2 title, sometimes it will floor you. The game just has a look of it's own, the artwork however is always cool, and the enemy-design and animation are awesome. Combat is smooth and rediculously gory, it has a nice difficulty curve, you will learn a lot of combo's, too many really. Now the Zelda element, basically a ripoff, do I care? No. The (huge) world opens up as you gain extra abilities, and each dungeon has a new ability and the puzzles make you use it. And a *gasp* endboss, who are like Zelda really puzzles. Now for Diablo, you collect souls, it's Darksiders experience. You can buy and upgrade your weapons, your spells, gain other passive abilities, your attacks, there is a pretty strong rpg-lite element to Darksiders. People complain about the story, ok it's pretty straightforward but so what? It's about butchering enemies with cool weapons, and solving puzzles with cool abilities, and that it delivers in spades. Really a highly recommended game.

Got it, have good hopes for it, and rather want to play it. That's been true since I got a copy for my birthday back in early January. The only thing that's kept it out of my xbox is the fact it looks like the perfect 'sofa and relax' game. I'm saving it until I'm at my new house, where I'll have something comfortable to sit on and far nicer surroundings. :mutters dark and unhappy things about property sales which go on for 2 months longer than they should:

It's on my list of things to do in order to appreciate the frogtasticness of owning my own home. As soon as I've got my basics in place I shall be whooping with joy, taking time off work, and working my way down that list.

I have no reservations recommending it yo you I am pretty sure you will love it. Not that much a relax game though, it's very action heavy and it really kicks my butt on apocalyptic mode. But the Zelda elements break up the pace nicely. It won't be in anybody's top 3 but it's cool as can be.

It's the Zelda elements which will make it relaxing to play. There's nothing quite like sinking into a comfy seat in pleasant surroundings with a game which says "Here's your tools, now go explore, fight and solve puzzles to get more neat stuff." Or so I believe - in half a lifetime of gaming I have never been able to play while seated completely comfortably or in an environment arranged to my own preferences.

To be honest I don't know, and I'm almost at the point where I'd happily pay the tax if only it would get me my

keys already! I was supposed to have been in for Easter; now they've fouled that up (third 'sure' date which has fallen down and the 2 1/2 month overdue mark) and I can't even find out why because my solicitors won't answer their phone. Remind me why I'm expected to pay these people, and while you're at it do try to convince me that they're working for me instead of against.

Oh you are going to love it, plenty to explore alright. If there is any list you are keeping I suggest you put on tops, everything that makes games like Zelda and Metroid great (not as good but good enough) is here, but also God of War and Devil May Cry (again not as good but good enough). I am really enthusiastic about this one as you probably have noticed by now, but this is one of the better games I have played for while, and I won't stop spamming it until it gets the love it deserves.

And congrats on new house.

edit: forgot about how awesome it is to customize-lite The Horseman, plenty of combo's and passive/active abilities to invest some experience in.

I've wanted to try this one since release day, but PS3 games are ridiculously expensive, I'm boycotting everything related to this console. Hopefully my bro or gf will buy it :D

Payed only 20 euro for it, but I wouldn't mind paying 60 for this. I hope they make a sequel.

THQ announced today that there will be a PC version of Darksiders. It's supposed to be released in June.

Won't work without a gamepad, and I doubt it will find a loving home with the pc-crowd, it couldn't be more of a console title. Just play the damn game if you have it.

I've been kind of curious about this game. Sooner or later, I should rent it, but I'm not really keen on these third-person action games. I've already played Uncharted 2 and Bayonetta and was pretty unimpressed by both. I'll probably rent Dante's Inferno as well so I can compare them.

It's more like Zelda, it has brutal combat like the games you mention but the emphasis is more on puzzle-solving and exploration, game really opens up eventually. If you put the combat on easy the epic fights are little more then a mild nuisance preventing you from getting from A to B. You'll die once a few times in some encounters but you will know what to do next try, not a very hard game.

I was bringing the news for the non-console owners in the audience. I only play strategy games and the exclusives on my PC these days.

Soon, I shall be playing soon. Several more weeks and I shall be sat on that wonderful sofa ... :dreams:
