    Cool Welcome to the Jungle

Jerry sat down next to his captain on the deck. “Are we getting close?” he asked Mike. Mike sucked down the last of the liquor in his flask before giving an irritated glance back at Jerry.

    “Do you see an island?”

    “Er... no.”

“Then no, we're not close.” Mike got up to refill his flask in the cabin. Jerry stayed on the spot, a brooding look upon his face.

“Aww, don't let him get you down.” Jerry peered back at his girlfriend, Carrie.

“It would be nice if our dear Captain was a bit more friendly,” he sighed.

“Oh, don't mind him. He needs us to get the rest of his paycheck, so I'm sure he's giving us his best.” Carrie's vibrant smile did little to reassure. “C'mon, enjoy yourself! Things'll be getting serious enough once we reach the island.” She put her hands on his shoulders, giving him what she hoped was a tension-easing massage. Jerry turned his head, peeking into the cabin window. Mike was refilling his flask, while Ted and Chris were comparing their respective towers of beer cans. To his front, at the front of the deck, Sandra and Darla were chatting on beach chairs, catching rays. Only Carlos, who was fiddling with his camera, seemed to be having less fun.

“Look... this is too important to be getting hammered right now! This is our big chance to blow this whole thing wide open! I mean, who knows what twisted, messed up things we'll find?!”

“Look, sweetie, we probably won't even get there 'till tomorrow. Its nearly five pm, even if we did get there tonight, we aren't going to want to head out tonight. You don't have to get smashed, but please... just relax a little. For both of us.”

Jerry sighed. “Alright. Just keep me away from the Coors. That stuff kills,” he joked.

    Next morning....

Mike stood at the wheel of the vessel. “Well, well, ladies and gentlemen. We're about 30 minutes away from Isle De Menos.” Sandra hopped up from her spot in the cabin, combing her hair straight in one hand, a microphone in the other. Mike rolled his eyes, then downed another shot from his flask.

“Carlos, camera ready!” She situated herself on the edge of the deck, while Carlos scrambled into position. She tossed her comb to Darla, then straightened her posture out into a more professional position. Carlos positioned himself behind the tripod, eye in the camera. He put his right hand up, three fingers raised. Two. One.

“Sandra O'Conner, here reporting just off the coast of the Isle De Menos, where the United States government has been undertaking heinous, illegal genetic experimentation. I'm here with a small group from GreenPeace, who've just recently discovered the whereabouts of this remote test center.” Carlos took a moment to swivel the camera to each person on board before returning to Sandra. “We're going to discover what the US government is trying to hide from its own citizens. We'll be arriving in just under half an hour, where we'll get a first hand account of everything on the island. Until then, this is Sandra O'Conner.” With a click, Carlos shut the camera down. Sandra gave a frustrated sigh. “This stupid wind, messing with my hair, at this of all times!” Mike rolled his eyes again.

“Alright, kiddies, just make sure when we get to the island, you don't go running off and getting yourselves killed. I need that payment.” Darla, Carrie, and Jerry shot him alarmed looks. “Look, you kids really think that if there was something valuable on that island, that the guvment wouldn't have guards protecting it?” Mike strolled into the cabin and pulled a 22 caliber handgun out of a drawer.

“Woah woah, we're not killing anyone!” Jerry proclaimed.

Mike walked up to him, inches from his face. “Look kid, if it comes down to kill or be killed, I'm not the one being killed. You better get that through your head.” Jerry backed down, a look of shock on his face. The rest of the group, sans Carlos, who was tinkering with the camera once more, looked equally perturbed. The boat was now a few dozen feet from the shore. Mike gave a lazy glance around at the group. “Alright kids.... ready to go?”

Greetings all! This is my first shot at the non-mafia variety of game. Now, the story above(you did read it, right?) gives you the basic summary of what's going down. The players are a group of activists(+ others), seeking to find proof of inhumane research on an isolated island. Now, the game will be mostly story driven, but each player ultimately has control over their own destiny. However, keep in mind, eyes on the prize. The ultimate goal is proof of the research- which will be highly valuable. Every player is going to have this as their top victory condition. The best way to achieve this will be through cooperation and teamwork. Of course... the less people around at the end, the less people to split the end reward with.

Now, I'm looking for eight players, plus one or two reserve players. The players, so long as they are sticking together as a group, will be able to converse with each other over strategy in the thread. If things break down, there are no radios, so if you are separated from the group, no discussing things in thread or via out of thread communication with people you aren't directly in contact with. Gameplay will operate in rounds, somewhat similar to Resident Evil. My goal is for rounds to not last any longer than 48 hours. Each player will get a unique role PM. Roles will be determined via random.org. Now... I think that covers it for now, if you have any more questions, please ask!

In. I've tried a game somewhat like this with Winston Hughes and some others on CFC, by the way.

I'd love to join, this sounds awesome, but with one large mafia already rolling and a second one soon to come, I doubt I'll have time.
So, if you are in dire need of a player, let me know. Otherwise put me down as a replacement player.

It's funny you mention that. A certain character from that game is about to feature in an epic battle not a million miles from here...

Although I would like to play this, it occurs to me that I'm already in quite a few other games, so if anyone else wants to take my spot, then I won't mind being a reserve instead.

Ok, I'm going to count Winston as a reserve, for the time being. Hopefully we can get one more player, and then get going.

Alright, I've got all the players I need. I'll get things up and moving a tad later today.

My apologies for the delay, folks. Been distracted over the last two days. This game will be up up and going tomorrow, with pm's sent out and a proper island welcome ready.

I´d say if you don´t feel it a 100% scrap it right away. Don´t force yourself to start this and break it off halfway through.
