One of the most often causes of CTD without any error message is incorrect changes in EDCT. Have you used proper program (like Notepad++) if you actually did edit that specific file? Normal Windows Notepad causes a lot of troubles when used of RTW/EB text files, so be rather safe than sorry and never use it.
