Default Not able to make a second install

I'm not sure where to post this issue, I did not finde any area in the whole forum for technical issues of rome total war, so I'll ask here because I just need it for EB ;-). I wanted to make a second install of Rome + EB for multiplayer purposes and I've only the gold version at the moment. However it tells me, that I already have Rome installed and I need to uninstall before I can install it... but that's obviously not what I want. Is there any way to go around it? Some trick to tell the installer "oh no, there is no other rtw installed" or do i just have to copy the vannila files in an other directory?

Just copy the vanilla folder to your wished place. If you install EB, be sure to install Trivial Script, Documentation and Recruitment viewer just once. To start one of your new builds use a shortcut.

Thank you very much for your advice, it would have worked, if i had not used another rome cd for the first install, so it does not work with the gold-cd now. It seems, that I need to make a fresh and new installation and I've to clean the registry... will that be a problem for the older installation to work? I'm using vista 64 bit.

I would first try to simply uninstall your old version and installing the gold-version without changing the registry.
If it does not work, then go into the registry and make a backup. Afterwards you can delete all RTW-related entries, this should do the trick.
What it does mean for the old version I'm not sure about, but why would you want to have it also installed?

Ok, perhaps I should try to explain again. Sorry for my english...

I've a working old installation with various modifications (nonetheless sometimes the script seems not to work properly...) and playing it with the alex.exe. So I do not need the old ROME-CD here. I just need an additional installation for multiplayer purposes. Copying the old rome-data does not work because of the different cd-keys (?) so I think I've to make a new installation with my new ROME-GOLD version. Therefore I seems as if i must edit the registry because I do not really wish to uninstall my old installation. I'm happy to have a working version on Vista 64 bit. But I'd like to know if it is possible to clean the registry without doing any damage to the old installation. You're not sure about it and I do not know enough about the registry to make at least an educated guess.

EDIT: Wait, i got it, if i make a backup i can try and see. Good idea.
