A question from new member pyhhricvictory:

    -----------------snip----------------

    Hi all,

I am new to the boeard, at least the posting part, and have a question. I am using the Swiss in Early and want to know where I can change the Royal Unit creation. The Swiss start with SAP's in Early which gives them a large advantage against all of her neighbors units and I am trying to find a way to balance them out with everyone else. Does anyone have an idea?

you could edit the various unit stat files. that's one way. what i've done in mine is edit where they start and with what. i give them less starting money, only two provinces, and set the rebellion rates quite high. this last gives you two ways to keep the swiss from rampaging against everyone else. one, they have to maintain more men at home or risk losing the province to rebels (which are labeled 'swiss' btw), and two, if someone else takes out these weakened swiss, then the chance they'll come back with even bigger stacks is substantial. thus, it's dangerous to attack the swiss and dangerous for them to attack anyone else. you can also edit their neighbors so that they can withstand an attack from the swiss.

as for editing what they start with, you can make that whatever you want. if they later build the swiss pike thru whatever buildings, i dont yet know how to edit that, but by doing the other things i've mentioned, it's not been a problem for me yet.

you can also edit the startleader:: stuff in early.txt, but i dont know what all the numbers there mean. would be nice if a DEV showed up and filled us in *cough*gil*cough*. ;) i've played with it a little, but only enough to know i can screw things up by having a king conrad the 2nd, which is a no-name name to the game.

i also know that your first king for the swiss always seems to come in as an 8 star command guy, which makes it doubly difficult to contain the swiss at times. this 8 star guy seems fearless against very large german stacks, though i have seen him back down a time or two.

you can also edit the province income, the tradable goods and resources for wherever you're having the swiss start. but aside from all that, i dont know.

Well you can change the Royal unit, by editing it in the crusaders_unit_prod11.txt

If you edit the Column, is this a generals unit.

It says swiss, delete the swiss and add it to anything else.
I added them to Royal Knights listings.
Therefore upgrading the Pikemen to 100.

    Hope this helps

Thanks Guys, I appreciate the help.
