    Default How To Increase Happiness?

I'm dying on my Saka campaign. every town always revolting. at least 1 town every turn. I've build temple, increase public order, increase garrison, increase public health, massacre the citizen(usually it works for vanilla). but they always unhappy, even after I change tax rate into lowest. what should I do next?

How far away are these unhappy settlements?

You might consider moving your capital closer to the towns in question (it's always a good idea to have your capital in the middle of your empire anyway); this will reduce unrest in your fringe settlements.

    Frontline be back, WB :-D

Plutoboyz, drop Happyness temples, Law temples are much more useful. They also decrease corruption.

hmm... most often revolt happen in alexandropolis and pattala, where I build law temple. those who have Happiness or Trade temple, mostly obey.

Strange, what other buildings do you have?
For me temples of Odin and Jupiter plus law buildings are by far the most effective, and quells corruption.

Try to check the traits of your family members, and consider putting high-influence family members with great public-order-traits in recently conquered and/or distant disloyal settlements.

About increasing garrissons: the maximum a garisson can contribute to your public order is 80%. Any excess units in settlements no longer contributes to your public order, and could equally be sent on campaign.

If - after all above mentioned techniques - public order still doesn't satisfies you, consider breaking down these constructions that give you a cultural penalty (and preferably only these constructions that don't give bonusses or that you can reconstruct later). This might hurt you in the longer run, but so do low taxes or revolts.

Cultural penalty is a bitch. In fact, it's the thing that makes Saka campaigns difficult.
A few hints as to what should work (I'm a Saka player too):

    - law temples, as mentioned before, are the best. They increase your income by cutting corruption. This in turn allows you to spend more.
    - For Saka, Sauromatae, and Swêboz, temples usually only work from levels one to three. That means a level 4 or 5 (Wondrous Temple of Biggus Dickus etc.) usually doesn't work for you. So don't be afraid to level (ha ha) it to the ground and build your own barbaric temple there. This also cuts cultural penalty.
    - Client rulers and sedentary FMs are great for pacifying cities. Not as if you had a choice anyways.
By contrast, FMs with the "nomadic" traits usually do more harm than good. I only use them as emergency or transitional governors for a maximum of three turns. Be prepared to shift around governors a lot.
    - Gund-î Paltâ and Parthian Spearmen make great garrison troops. They're useful in sallies, too. Dito for Baktrian Hillmen.
But don't use Hyrkanian Hillmen as garrison troops, unless it's a city that gets besieged every second turn. They are too expensive and should be used for battlefield duty only.

Huh. You're playing EB 1.2, and not 1.1, right? That's a mistake I made: I installed EB 1.1, but then forgot to install EB 1.2 over that.

Now, assuming you're playing as EB 1.2, you likely forgot to install the 1.2 fixes. Here they are. Be a bit more patient during your next game's installment so you actually install the whole thing.

thanks alot. I'm not sure why i never saw that before i've been looking through everything. When it says "unpack" does that mean to save it into that file folder after it has been unzipped? again thanks alot.

Yes, I've returned. I've been extremely busy as of late with school, and on top of that, I had to reinstall my OS on my desktop about 1.5 months ago. All of my programs were uninstalled, obviously, but more distressing, it looks as if the only things permanently deleted in the reinstallation were my EB saves ... even my RTW saves are intact. Hopefully I can somehow retrieve them with some help this week (spring break).

Perhaps it would be well for you to check out this thread, just to make sure you've gone through the entire procedure properly (I know I made a few mistakes on my first installation).
