I don't know.. i had a Huscarl unit named unique, only difference between the unique and the Normal Huscarls were a duble amount of Morale, so the unique Huscarl were more of an ELITE unit than an unique unit

That's interesting, I guess I'll have to experiment in my current campaign.

Peasants rock! They make nice arrow fodder and good ram teams when knocking down walls/gates of cities and castles. They are also good for garrison duty. I still prefer my heavies though.
Silence is beautiful
Ha ha! I was too sort of, I can be alittle naive at times!
Silence is beautiful
Definately Highland Clansmen.
Horse Archers. "Float Like a Butterfly, Sting Like a Bee" ...and Cataphract Archers best of all ^_^. My favorite infantry unit is the Bastarnae. Those guys can cover the entire battlefield from one side to another on the dead run and hardly break a sweat! And the rhomphia is such a cool-looking weapon......I wonder what ran through the minds of Roman legionaires when facing down a charge from Thracian heavy infantry?!?
High Plains Drifter
Desert Cavalry from MTW2 is the unit that never ceases to amaze me.
However, my favourite is probably the Joms Vikings... I also LOVED the late Royal Knights...
MTW huscarls (particularly the Saxon ones from VI), and maybe the Italian Infantry.
Jannisarie infantry good swordmen that can double as archers, late Turkey is a blast anyhow with it's cheap and easily build units EXPANSION TIME. Lots will die of course but they are easily replaced. Love the Ottoman infantry sponge while enemy is being peppered or the Ghazi/Sapihi rush while my Jannisaries are eating baklava waiting to mob things up. Could build heavy's but where's the fun in that, overpowered.
The Samurai Horse Archers from Shogun, I spent months learning how to use them after Maggy battered me with that unique style of massed horse archers harrassing your flanks into mistakes, either pulling you further out, pulling you out and doubling up on you in melee or just generally shooting your flanks apart.
I spent months dealing out the same lesson to others, they are for me the best unit so far simply deadly.
No one quite mastered them like Magy though.

One enemy is too many a hundred friends too few.
AggonySpoon, MizuSpoon, EuroSpoon, Linkspoon Li
The Spanish Jinnettes in MTW remain my favorite unit. They can handle just about anything when properly managed. Their only real weak point (at least for me) is that you do have to micro-manage them to maximize their effectiveness. I still love them, though!![]()
Rounding out my top five are:
2.) Ghazi Infantry (MTW)
3.) Bedouin Camel Warriors (MTW)
4.) Samurai Archers (STW)
5.) Huscarles (MTW)

I think Mamluk Horse Archers from MTW do it for me. If they have valour as well, micro manage them and you can destroy an entire contingent of even Templar Knights. Without any ammo left, they make good light cavalry, somewhat lesser in power than Alan Mercenary Cavalry but still manage to be really useful. Can rout a heavy infantry unit if charged from behind.
Otherwise, Templar Knights from MTW as well, Kataphraktoi (MTW), Longbowmen (MTW) and Gothic Foot Knights (MTW).
Ja mata, TosaInu. You will forever be remembered.

Swords Made of Letters - 1938. The war is looming in France - and Alexandre Reythier does not have much time left to protect his country. A novel set before the war.
A Painted Shield of Honour - 1313. Templar Knights in France are in grave danger. Can they be saved?
12 pounder field guns.

Armored Swordsmen from England.

The Naphtha s in MTW VI 1, closely followed by Ghazis.

Meh. Naphthas were overrated, and all it took to defeat them was a slight slope, which would cause them all to thrown their projectiles at their own feet.
Rome: Sacred Band Infantry of Carthage
Medieval II: Oof this is a toughie
Looks: Ritterbruder
Use: Regular and dismounted Dvor (bows, swords, shields, and even horses. What else can you want? [Don't say a cannon])
Naked Fanatics from RTW of course. I'm in a clan named after them :D
Peasants, definitely, in all editions!
Welsh Saethyr (I hope I spelled it correctly) from the Britannia campaign. A useful addition to any fort's defense.
I'd have to say Reiters form M2TW. Mounted pistoleers are awesome.
Venetian Heavy Infantry from M2TW. Heavily armoured infantry with deadly armour piercing hammers. My favorites.
flying pigeons
Eastern Spearmen!
I have memories of sending atleast 3 Full armies of these into Gaul. Took awhile smashing those barbarians..
Not the best Idea at the time, but I was a Tad Skint compared to my usual.
Janissary Heavy Infantry (Mtw)
Pontic Heavy Cavalry (Rtw)
Janissary Heavy Infantry (M2tw)
Beylik Janissary Musketeers (Etw)
