    Answer me:hi Matiuj
    thank you for responding
I am using windows XP and a Ge force 8600 GT 512 MB card with drivers:6.14.11.7519
the problem we all got is:
    1. it crashes just as the load bar had completed. However, battles are still an issue - units appear ABOVE their cards (when you move the camera view, if any units are at the bottom of the screen, they don't disappear under the cards), and the attack cursor still does not appear when hovering the cursor over enemy units (another issue is units not going where they are supposed to).
2.They also seem to have a problem with rendering some shadows, and other graphical effects in Medieval 2 Total War
    3. the games got a weird flickering
    4. cann't select the units and I cann't do a write formation for my troups
and there are somme bugs more if please wil have a look here :http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=40869&st=0 (http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=40869&st=0) and there are more forums about this problem.
It seems to be a problem with the 8xxx and 9xxx Nvidea cards there are many fans and they all cant play Medieval and Shogun total war games as you cane see on Nvidea forum.
my old PC wos hit by lightning and had a 6600 GT 256 MB card in it, and i did nt have no problems playing my games so after the lightning strike i had to buy a new PC and i bought one with a 8600 GT Magic 512 card and wos happy to play my favorite games with this brand new card but i cant play them.
so Matiuj i hope you cane help us and i hope Nvidea can make a update or a patch for us fans so we can enjoy our games and our grafic cards there are a lot of fans you will see 78,241 vieuws on Nvidea topic about this problem.

    Thank you Matiuj

Seems like a typical first line support response... I doubt he actually has a clue...

Nope, he hasn't so he passes the issue on. Seems like a typical fob off to be honest. You will probably get generic advice at best - if you even get any response. Of course I may be wrong, but going by Nvidia's past reputation, I'll be surprised if you get any real help.

I think Nvidia's official line on this problem in the past has been that it's CA/SEGA's problem.

And CA/SEGA have not made any official responses to this issue as far as I'm aware. I seem to remember CA responding to someone in the past informing them that it was a problem with their hardware/drivers (i.e. Nvidia's problem)...

In reality though this is CA/SEGA's problem. It is CA/SEGA that should be releasing a patch for this and it is CA/SEGA that introduced these flaws into the game from the start.

    Good luck

Dunno, but I remember last year using e-mailing them for support regarding an issue with RTW: BI, and I received a clearly custom, professional response. It did not fully help me, but the 1.6 patch somehow entirely fixed the problem, which was created by my heavy modding of the game . Of course, I did not mention to the tech support that I modified their program :P.

But this is 2009, not 2008, and this is MTW, not RTW, so....

So do we all,but don't let them off with "Your case is being escalated to our Level 2 Tech Support group" reponse, keep on their backs,so to speak,if they don't repond promptly. Also I don't know if this would work but if everyone could mail them about the same thing, maybe we could get their attention so to speak,as this should have been fixed long ago.

I hope you get a positive response; this is a longstanding issue.

In the meantime (at least for me) ATI looks like a winner :)

But it still sucks for those of us that have Nvidia cards, but Ca don't seem to believe to "dedicated tech support" as they've been ignoring our complaints for at least a year so far.

All I can say is well if more people mail them about this issue, maybe we will finally see some results.

keep us informed , though the lvl2 support probably means it is going into the abyss with the rest of them , +1 for the ATI , which will be the next card i would purchase.

Honestly I think this issue is CA's and not Nvidia's.

Let's think of all the issues we have with STW and MTW on newer hardware:

    1) Inability to direct Units in battle. Applies to STW/MTW (Nvidia)

    2) Campaign map CTDs. Applies to MTW (ATI/Nvidia/Intel etc (mostly ATI?))

    3) "Debugger detected" or similar. Applies to STW/MTW (not usually related to graphics card - caused by Safedisc/Securom and is triggered by a codec)

    4) Throne Room crash. Applies to STW (not usually related to graphics card - caused by a codec issue)

    5) Severe campaign map lag. Applies to MTW (?)

    6) Hang when exiting program, forcing kill of process through taskman. Applies to STW and MTW (I had this problem with STW/MI 1.02 (latest version) but not STW 1.12 (original STW). Also had this problem with MTW and certain graphics cards/drivers.

    7) Flickering menu. Applies to STW (ATI/Nvidia/Intel etc)

    8) Slow loading screen. Applies to MTW (Nvidia/ATI)

    9) Sound crashing and stuttering issues. Applies to STW, caused by codecs etc.

Many of these issues are inconsistent. A lot of players obviously don't have any problems, which is why I don't think they're pure issues of graphics card/driver incompatibility. The button fix is a good example of this. It is strange that these two files cause an issue and replacing them solves it.

Both the STW and MTW game engines are basically the same thing. There are no actual graphical enhancements to the MTW engine over the STW one on the campaign map. Strangely enough though the MTW engine has more issues with the campaign map than the STW version. This does indicate that it's the additional bling that was added to MTW (portraits and other icons) that is causing the issue. IMHO it's general bugginess in a game that has had bits tacked on to it with no thought as to how it would function on newer hardware platforms.

MTW community should write a new freeware engine that would run MTW content :P

It would be the best game ever, I tell you!

    Hi Asai Nagamasa,

If you think its not a Nvidea issue, why isn`t there a problem with the ATI grafic cards?
If this really is a problem from CA should n`t there be a problem with ATI cards?
Maybe the solution could be found there? i aint getting any responce from CA i would think that especially CA would help out there fans, i meen they stil sell the totalwar serries

    Vantek,
would be great, unfortunately i am not a expert in this, otherwise I would help

Well there are several issues with MTW and the inability to select and move units in battle, is just one of them. All of the other issues, in particular the campaign map CTDs and other problems are not really specific to Nvidia or ATI. There are certainly some serious problems with ATI cards. These are the graphics cards I have ran MTW on with the problems listed:

    1) 3dfx Voodoo5 5500 / Win98 - No issues in three different motherboards (yes it's been that long )

    2) Radeon 9000 Pro / WinXP - No issues

    3) Radeon 9800 / WinXP - Campaign Map CTD (fixed using older drivers (Cat 5.7 and then Cat 4.8), but still very chuggy esp. in menus and selecting campaign)

    4) Geforce 7300GT / WinXP - Campaign Map CTD, slow load screen problem and unit selection and movement in battle problem (Fixed all except slow loading by using older drivers - slow loading killed it for me, so upgraded)

    5) Radeon HD 3650 / WinXP (new motherboard and CPU) - Campaign map CTD and slow(er!) loading (fixed campaign map CTD with button fix - cannot resolve slow loading to this day - gave up)

I have read posts about those having no issues with the later 4xxx series ATI cards, so I'm tempted to try an upgrade at some point.

    Hi mountaingoat,

I got my new 4890 ATI card with the latest drivers and my MTW VI and STW both works good.
There s one minor issue and thats the loading time when i start a new battle or new campaing it takes about 80 secondes to load by every battle but thats a known problem for years from what i heard of and can read on the net.

I hope this issue will be fixable maybe i will contact CA about this.

But main thing is it works, but i must say by almost waithing a year to play the games it take away and spoiled my game play of MTW VI and STW, for somme reason i cant enjoy the games anymore all thanks of Nvidea and Creative Assembly.
However MTWII it runs realy smoothly no problems wot so ever it runs so easly you just cant believe it. lol

I have a 4850 1gb and I have the slow loading bar problem! For me, it takes 3-5 minutes I went from NVidia to ATI because of the mouse fix for ATI cards and now have this loading problem! So frustrating!
