Thread: Roman infantry rendering

  1. #1

    Default Roman infantry rendering

    Hello,

My Roman infantry units look weird on the battlefield when I zoom in. Zoomed out they look like normal. This only happen to the Roman infantry units (hastati, princepes, triarii and the cohortes)

    Welcome to the forum!

Here is the EB-FAQ and this is a guide on how to install EB properly.

You installation seems to be bugged. Please run a validation (execute 'validateinstall.bat' in your RTW folder) and post the results here. If you have any sub-mods installed which affect animations or models install new without those mods.

I have the same problem with a straight install of EB 1.2. My rendering error affects Kleruchoi (not Pezhetairoi even though they use the same model!) and the high LOD of the armoured horse. I tried copying and renaming the Pez model to Kleruchoi model, but the same render error occurs anyway. The Kleruchoi appear affected at all 3D levels of zoom, I think. Doesn't affect the game any other way though.

Please run the validation so we can see any changed files. Do you have mini-mods installed or changed any files manually? Is your graphical driver up-to-date?

Ive manually edited buildings, unit descriptions and resources, but the rendering issue existed before. I'll run the Validation tomorrow and attach what it says.

Run validation. see below for results. I have altered EDU, EDB and Export_sm_Resources, but none of the others. I am also unaware of any 'missing files'!

    ebValidationResults.txt:
You don't have an original installation; There are changes to files, or some are missing.
However, these may be conscious changes you have made, to remod EB. See below for details.

    Thank you for the informations:

    1. Validation tool says that you are missing patch_1.pak (or something similar)? Get this file and extract it in <RTW>/data/packs. [ftp://ftp.europabarbarorum.org/patch_1.zip]

    2. I see you Rome-TW.exe is changed, are you using a crack or similar? EB won't work properly with a changed exe.

I'm using the Gold edition (the Sega one), does that make any changes to the exe? otherwise, there shouldn't be any changes that I'm aware of. I'll download the patch file and let you know if it changes anything.
