Default How to Properly "Trim and smooth" jagged edges of the map?

well, it was actually a minor issue, but everytime I scroll through the campaign map I just made, the coastlines are started to blink and get jagged edges....
what should I do to tone down that? I allready try with map_heights, but with no good result...

    anyone can help?

So your map_heights.tga has smooth edges to the coasts? You haven't resized map_regions to give you the shore outline? Have you tried making sure that all coasts are very low lying?

Just a couple of ideas. The coasts will always be a little bit jagged.

yupz, allready try with 0 0 0 as coastal tile, followed by 2 2 2 and 5 5 5, but as far as textures in map are concerned, they are still jagged... anyhow, it was somoother now, after setting new map_heights for them... thanks for the info that map edges will always be jagged.

Could we see a screenshot of the relevant part of you map_heights, just to be sure? I also don't see any waves on your map, perhaps this is part of the same problem? Have you turned off any graphics options?

Fraps or some screen capture software like it, but I am curious to see a pic of that section of your map_heights

Soory to answer for so long, actually, after I try to smooth the map_heights for adding some mountains, I got no message CTD, and got in certain troubles founding what is wrong, and must revert to the older map_heights

BTW, I allready partially solved my problem by copypasting M2TW textures to replace the RTW ones, and they are smoother now...

maybe in some days, I'll try to rebuild the mountains again...

You need to toy with the map_height.
When you give a higher value to land pixel (like 5-5-5 instead of 1-1-1) the land is "pushed" into the sea, and the same is true with the water pixel if you decrease their value (0-0-245 instead of 0-0-253).
There are great tutorials around; once you get it, it's easy, but very long.

Don't forget to delete the map.rwm file each time.
