Nice, dude, good job taking the initiative. I'll look around my shots and see what's sitting around.

Just a suggestion though, cropping is your friend. A pic can be great but still look kind of strange because the UI and the minimap are sitting there. I would suggest using Gimp to edit your shots.

Looking foward to see your screenies!

Yeah nice of you to take the initiative to start this thread, I thank thee.

Here's mine, with the brave son of Seleukeia alone charging the ranks of the Persian archers:

Since we can only post one picture per month I'll have save the other for next month...

I was looking forward for it. Thanks.

Well, I couldn't choose only one pic but I see everyone post whatever number they like. It's good. More impressions.
Sorry but the caption has only one and the first pic

What trouble did you have with Gimp?

Another minor suggestion, but if this is a competition, shouldn't everyone be limited to one screenshot? If everyone is posting 5 or 6 shots, pretty soon we're going to have to be choosing between 100+ pics.

I just use paint for mine, takes like a minute and a half.

Also, I agree, everyone should choose one of their pictures posted to enter.

I'll have to get some good pictures during my Iberian conquest.

Yeah! I started the thread, but i never participated to any screenshot contest! if someone is used, please, share the rules with us! if we must pick only one pic, it's fine with me! but let's establish a number of rules! ideas?

    @Duguntz

Here are the rules from last May's competition, perhaps they should go in your original post:

    Rules
-One submission per person per month
    -Must be from EB
-No picture editting for this month's competition
-Only slight cropping will be allowed (small pictures are ok, just not extreme cropping)
-Please keep the dimensions to a size that fits in the forum screen (maximum of 1024ish)
    -Must obey forum rules

    Suggestions
    -Turn off banners
-Turn off arrows and/or deselect your units
-Make sure the cursor, "Paused", and map border aren't showing
-Crop out the UI (though too much cropping may get your pic disqualified)
    -No Elephants

The reason for no elephants is because apparently a shot with elephants won three months in a row, so people were worried that everyone was going to just start taking pictures of elephants. They just had no elephants as a suggestion instead of a rule, but I think it could be either.

For cropping, I would say allow any cropping that is done to get rid of the UI, etc, but over-the-top cropping that focuses on only one or two men in a big picture is too much.

    That's Aedui. Nice picture, too.

Anyway, I will resubmit an old one of mine, because I don't have any other and I think it deserves another shot. (Plus, I'd have to kick Celtic Punk's ass in self defence if I didn't. )

How do you remove the "paused" button? Or do you wait for just the right moment?
Also, I downloaded fraps and my UI changed... Now the map is in the top right corner and everytime I take a screenshot I have to crop out the top too. How do you guys take screens?

    1) You can't remove pause button.
    2) Why use fraps for screenshots? Just press the "Print Screen" button and you can find your images in your Rtw/Tgas folder :)

If you have anti-aliasing enabled your screenshots will be all black when using "print screen", IIRC.

If you - in-battle - press F1, a window will appear which lets you choose keyboard style setup. Select "FPS style setup"; and then you can toggle the radar visibility with F5 and the unit cards with F6. Hope that will help :)

As I recall, old rules were:

    No excessive cropping
    One submission per member
    No previous entries allowed

So if you have submitted more than one, please select the one which you wish to use in the contest. I presume that there is a deadline that all entries must be submitted by in preparation for the poll vote?

Anyway here's my submission, from way back when I had an AAR, lol.

Right click and press "view image" to see it in it's correct resolution
