im planning to upgrade to SP3.
but i have a few questions.
1) will it wipe my hard drive?
2) is it really necessary to upgrade? i only want to upgrade to play mass effect 2.

1) No...its just a pack of windows updates
2) You don't have to, but its worth it. When it first came out, IIRC, it was 50% chance of making your computer faster, 50% chance of killing it.
It killed two of our computers 3 times in a row. But now? I've done 15 upgrades to it and not a single issue. However, I'd still back up your important files.
you say that it had a 50% chance of killing it b/c of problems.
have the problems been fixed since then?
