Thread: speed of the units

    Default speed of the units

    hi all.
a question: is the speed of the units the same?
within infantry and cavalry, i mean.
i don't mean when marching, but when they run, they seem to have -at the same level of tireness - the same speed: if light infantry pursues heavy infantry they seem to have always the same distance, for example.
    it might be an impression....
but, if it is so, is not proper. light units should be faster than heavy units.
and, if it is so, how/where is possible to modify?

In my games, I often use L inf to run down and/or outmaneuvre their heavier counterparts, especially as Sweboz. So all speeds are not the same in my experience.

Yeah, the speeds are all different. Light cavalry are, like, the fastest.

Light Inf is faster than heavy inf
light cav. is faster than heavy cav.
tired units are slower than units in good condition
some units tire faster that other units
some units recover faster from being tired than other units

but as far as model speed are concerned, some heavy infantry use "fs_big_xxxxxxxman" animation, which means that the scale of the animations are increased, and as the result, they'll have larger steps, and as we can predict, faster speed... this was quite noticeable in some Celtic/Sweboz heavy infantry, who often outrun Hellenic / Romaioi light infantry...

I dunno, I never actually bothered recruiting them. I just wait out the hail of javelins, then march forward.
